Disappointed in the 6.2

I've just noticed this with the pedal in my new 6.2L Denali. There's like a second spring or something that requires additional pressure to "floor" it. At first I thought that something was stuck under the pedal. Anybody know what's really going on down there?

I haven't driven the new 6.2, but my 2011 6.2 would blow my 2014 5.3 away, and it would actually respond and drive like a normal vehicle.

To be honest, I feel the same way about my 6.2. I'm saving up for a tune because I hear it's a night and day difference but I shouldn't have to...

You heard right !!!!!! Mine IS a beast. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the Blackbear tune was the most amazing transformation I've ever experienced. I've heard all the warranty doom and gloom but I decided to roll the dice and I'm glad I did. In the two years I've been on here I've not heard of anybody having any trouble in that regard. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, I'm saying that if it has happened no one's talking/posting about it. Do what you feel comfortable doing but just remember it really is a "night and day" difference.

Well I think the throttle feeling like it was wide open but needing an additional push just might be what the problem was. I floored the truck expecting really impressive acceleration and it pulled away rather sluggishly. Like I said I was disappointed. Now I think I know why. Thanks for the responses.

I wasn't talking about your rig, I was referring to the truck mentioned in the first post. I am familiar with the gotta mash it go fast pedal, mine is the same way. My girl is only 5-2/105, she can't even reach it to the floor lol. I also need to use caution in wet conditions, and have gotten loose in the 70mph range merging onto the highway. I have owned 4 trucks with 5.3, and was never dissatisfied, but the 6.2 is a totally different truck. IMO

The 14MY 6.2/6 Spd's don't have this feature. This is only an 8-Spd feature 15MY and 16MY (according to the owner's manual)

I just had my 2015 6.2l in for a transmission recall and they gave me a 2015 with a 5.3 to drive. I had been second guessing my self about buying a 6.2 but after drive the 5.3 for a few days, you can't compare the two. The 6.2 is the only way to go.

Must just be her short legs/size 5, vs mine then. Just doesn't seem to pull as hard when she's driving. Maybe it's cuz I have the fat all weather mats over my carpeted mats..

I've driven both; 2015 - 5.3 and a 2015 - 6.2 for a considerable period of time. Not just a test drive.

Hands down the 6.2 is much stronger.

'15 6.2 ain't no joke...

I'm deep into the 30mphs and 3rd gear here. I don't care how much tuning, E85 and bolt-ons you throw at a 5.3, it won't come close to doing this in a heavy ass LTZ CC 4x4

Or This... totally different road than before (N Hwy167 outside Catoosa) and watch speedometer.

I haven't driven the 8 speed 6.2s, but the 14s 5.3 on E85 is only 40hp difference. So I can imagine most dealers only have regular gas pumps and put in 87 grade gas in their trucks causing reduce performance in the 6.2. As far as braking tires loose my 14 on E85 with the TM off with a tune 30 MPH burn was no problem, a little chirp on a 70 MPH kick down was possible on some roads. You start messing with the TM and a tune you need to pay attention or things could get out of hand.

Well I think I may try this again. The sales guy is calling leaving messages on my land line. I may have to drive the truck again and see if the throttle second stage thing will work. It's a loaded High Country, sunroof and all for $48 and change. Not crazy about White Diamond. I actually liked the look of my LTZ with 20" wheels better when they were parked side by side.

This is almost spooky:

Horsepower @ RPM 285 @ 5300 355 @ 5600 420 @ 5600

Torque @ RPM 305 @ 3900 383 @ 4100 460 @ 4100

That's the 4.3, 5.3 and 6.2

There's basically an 80ft/lb and 70hp difference between each engine. So going from the V6 to the 5.3, that's about the same as going from the 5.3 to the 6.2

I also didn't know about the 'kickdown feature', I thought my floor mat was in the way or something. WOT from a stop in 2WD I can spin 2nd and chirp 3rd.

Have you compared the Blackbear tune vs the Diablew tune? I'm just about to pull the trigger on the Diablew tune because it's easy to switch back when necessary.

What do you get with BBT that you don't with Diablew?
