$100 says they will never fix the crappy resolution of the back up cameras on the 14's & 15's. But the 7" 2016 will be crystal clear

Wow so SLE and SLT will come standard with HID's. SLT's get an option for LED headlights. Nice.

I read that the HD trucks will get HIDs as well, with the current headlight design. That should make for an easier OEM retrofit of HIDs into the 2014/2015 trucks.

I think I read that the resolution problem is with the cameras, not the displays. There's already an 8" in the upper trims. The 7" is just replacing the 4" in the lower trim levels. If they do upgrade the camera, I bet somebody finds a way to make it compatible with the 2014/2015 trucks. But I'm betting that won't happen until the next real body style change.

I can't imagine those tiny fog lamps provide much lighting capability.

LED technology is amazing. An LED 2x2 mm can provide more light than a standard halogen. There are some new LED headlights I saw for the Sierras that have 2 small LEDs and provide nearly as much light as an HID upgrade. You have to see it to believe it.

Check out the table at the bottom of this page for a comparison.

Is the 8 speed in the 5.3 going to really make much of a difference? Does this mean they will have to retune the active fuel management as well?

According to Chevy's page, the 5.3 with the 8 speed returns 23 mpg highway, against 21 of the same engine with the 6 speed. So a slight (but very welcome) improvement.

I don't know, the 5.3L is already rated for 23 hwy. Need to make sure we're comparing apples to apples.

The V6 is only rated for 24 hwy. It wouldn't look good if the V8 got better mileage than the V6.

I agree I understand its for fuel economy mostly but seems like a big expensive change to an already decent MPG V8. Is anyone really complaining about their 5.3 that much in the fuel department or is this just a direct mpg race with Ford and Ram...

None of the above - it's by government mandate. Fuel economy mandates go up every year. OEMs have to improve to keep up or face fines/penalties.

Actually it is 23 MPG Highway with the 6. So is there no change in MPG with the 8? Perhaps city driving my be better or is it 16 in the city still?

You're right. I keep forgetting that the 4x4 has a lower rating, and used that as my reference.

I would assume either the city ratings got better, emissions got lower or towing was benefitted. They wouldn't change it just for the sake of changing it.

Crappy cameras look better on smaller displays :)
