16 Silverado finally on lot.

this beast is LTZ Z71 double cab

That looks sharp. But I'm not really a fan of the vertical fog lights with all the other lights being horizontal.

I'm waiting for the LTZ Z71 w/cooled seats :)

I was able to get the Service Managers Demo for a weekend while my truck was in for service.....had the A/C seats....didn't care for them...felt like someone was blowing on my........

Glad I got a '15 instead of waiting to order a '16. Not really a fan of the styling. And I saved about 10K by buying the '15.

I love my 15 and don't regret getting it at all. That said. Ironically I thing the 2014/2015 GMC's look better than the Silverado's. But now having seen a pic of the 2016 GMC and Silverado, I like the Silverado better :)

The seats are mislabeled on the 14/15. They do not have active cooling, they only vent the hit air out by circulating the (cool) cabin air.

Per the GM new model features and service guide, doc # 3448047, they are cooled.

 

Cooled Front Seats

When the seats are set to cool, the warm air generated from the cooling of the thermoelectric device being used to cool the seat, is exhausted through the vents in the top of the seat backs. This is a normal characteristic of system operation.

Do you have a part number for the thermoelectric device? The only thing our parts guys can come up with is a heater pad and a blower. Thinking maybe the thermoelectric device is a fan/blower.

The blower assemblies contain a thermo-electric device. Copied this from gm description and operation:

 

Each heated/cool seat has 2 blower assemblies, one located under the seat cushion and one located in the seat back. Each blower assembly contains a thermo-electric device (TED) and a blower motor. The TED is mounted downstream of the blower motor. Each TED consists of a circuit of positive and negative connections sandwiched between 2 ceramic plates. Each ceramic plate is equipped with copper fins for cool exchange. The air flowing past these fins is directed as conditioned air into the seat cushion and seat back or directed into the cabin as waste air.

Just did some real investigating, and this is true. Not that I doubted they were actually cooled, just didn't know how. I can't remember the scientific effects or theorys, but thats how they work. We had to replace a seat heater element in a truck, and the tech cracked the "fan" unit. So, we took it apart and checked out the innards, googles some stuff. Sure enough. Just wonder why that technology hasn't spread more to things like fridgerators, a/c units and what not.

It's not very efficient - especially in larger scales. It is used quite a bit in the CPU cooling realm I think.

I see people mentioning this but keep a couple of things in mind, most buying '16s aren't paying MSRP and '15s will be a model year older having a lower resale value in the future.

True, but the 16's get a 3% price hike and the incentives go away ($6500.00 on my truck) so on a fully loaded LTZ 4wd Crew Cab 6.2, the price difference mounts up. Also, since I plan on keeping this truck for a number of years, the one model year difference probably won't matter much.

Reminds me of a Ram with those painted bumpers and vertical fog lights, and a Ford with those small weird indented headlights.

 

Glad I still have an iconic and classic looking Chev.

 

GM dropped the ball here. Looks like an SUV, not a truck
