GM buy back program lemon law issues

I have only had the truck for exactly a week and three days... They just tried road forcing my tires to fix the vibe but it didn't. Idk, I drove it some more and it does feel like a tire imbalance, I looked at the weights and they all have weight on the inside of the wheel, none that I can see on the outer portion. Is it possible that they just aren't balancing the 22's right? I'm tempted to go to a good tire shop, and see what they say... It shakes really bad, then it doesn't, then it shakes really bad again, then it doesn't, it's like a repeating harmonical vibration.

I have a 2014 High Country with 22's. Your problem and my issue are very simular. Most of my shake was caused by improper tire balance and air pressure. I finally found the right tech with the experience to balance my tires correctly. He said the tire pressure should be at 35psi all around when you first drive it. Of course tire pressure will change as they heat up during driving but 35psi is the baseline. My rims (same as yours) have inner and outer weights as you mentioned yours do not. Try to find out the age of the dealer's tire balance equipment and when the last time the equipment was serviced or calibrated (this is a long shot but someone might slip-up and tell you). Not all dealers maintain their equipment which could also account for your particular issue not being resolved. If you are still under warrantee have them replace your tires with new and start from there before going else where. Your other alternative is to find a tire specialist. He may have to do a road force balance and or tire shaving (shaving is the last, last alternative). I've had tire shaving done on my Tahoe some years ago ... not as bad as some may think. In my experience it's not the rim size but the tire balance. Oh I had my tires balanced three times before finding the right person. Also I have a lear 700 series tonneau cover. That may make a little difference in the ride both good and bad but that's another story.,,,

Am currently in the process of a buyback with GM on my 2016 Silverado 2500. They are offering me a really low price on buyback....barely our downpayment to be exact. I've been told by numerous dealerships who have gone through these and even blogs that say you can negotiate with GM which hasn't been the case. GM is standing firm and won't negotiate. According to them GM doesn't negotiate. Anyone else run into this where GM is low balling the buyback price and then playing hardball? Should I just take the money and go to another manufacturer and wash my hands of GM?

Call the rep you’ve been dealing with and inform her/him that you’ll be call local media, to inform of the way GM mistreats its customers. Call your local News Media and get it rolling, media love to make big stories of mistreated customers

I countered GM with a number for the buyback and they said GM doesn't negotiate. They run the numbers and they are what they are. Either accept it or opt for the trade in. I also offered a compromise whereas GM has the option to actually correct the problem by replacing the defective item with an aftermarket one and they stood by their statement that there are only two options.....buyback (accept offer) or trade in. Which seems funny because I have read and spoken with numerous people and they have said that GM doesn't want litigation....so they are willing to work with you within reason to avoid that. Since I want to be done with GM and have no respect or loyalty after this for their product I will most likely accept their buyback offer and wash my hands of them.

I feel sorry for all buyers who have to deal with this.

It just confirms why I have this picture in my head when I buy a vehicle.

You really think another manufacturer would treat you better?

Are you doing this alone, or do you have a lemon-law attorney dealing with it?

IMHO the attorney route is best, they usually get lid through the settlement so no money out of your pocket.

Dealing with corporate lawyers on your own is a losing proposition for most folks.

I contacted a Lemon Law Attorney...... informed them that GM has already made an offer and I wanted to know if I was getting screwed. The Attorney reviewed my info and declined to take the case and declined to offer any advice about it.  The history is my Infotainment system is malfunctioning and they have no fix for it. During the multiple visits, the radio's clock keeps resetting to 12am upon every start of the vehicle. Having been in at least 6 times I entered into the process of finding out if GM would accept a lemon law claim through their system. They did and now we have no other option but to accept the offer. The issue with the trade in offer is that they take the usage fee and add it to any additional amount over MSRP of the new truck. That puts us adding almost another new vehicle into our existing loan meaning we would be paying double then we are now. Going from around $350 to a little over $600 a month in payments in order to swap our truck. That's just not realistic for us financially. So we are left with no other choice but to either live with the truck malfunctioning or take the payout.

Of course not. I am going to just be glad to move on to another vehicle. While I had no issues other than the one stated above with the truck this was the first automaker I have dealt with that had no way of fixing my vehicle. I have owned Ford and Dodge and had problems no doubt with those...but at least they fixed them and didn't have any issues after until we traded in and got another. IMO Chevy has been a utilitarian type truck. Not very attractive inside or out but gets the job done....nothing more.

Sometimes you get lucky.. won't know until you try.. but sticking with the same manufacturer that screwed you over generally doesn't sit well with most.  you'll never feel satisfied.

What are they saying about it? Why can’t they fix it? Did they swap out the infotainment system?

They are saying that they cannot duplicate the problem. No error codes are showing up but I have numerous videos showing the infortainment system malfunctioning therefore they believe me that it's not working correctly. GM's tech dept. has no fix for it. They don't know why it's malfunctioning or how to fix it. They say they swapped out the system along with new USB ports but it didn't fix the problem. I don't believe they actually did. When I picked up my truck all my presets and clock were exactly as I had set them. I have had electrical issues with other trucks and no one re-set my radio pre-sets. (IMO they didn't replace it.) I had told them I didn't believe it was the software that it was an issue with the electrical system. A low voltage somewhere causing the system to low power some how and act weird. They refuse to look at the electrical system and are only focusing on the software of the infortainment system.
