I agree about what was said in the article; this was likely the work of a professional theft ring, they likely move these wheels and tires across state lines so they can't be tracked, and then sell them at a fraction of what you would pay at a dealer parts department.

Call them professionals all you want, but apparently they were too dumb to take the lug nuts.

This is the main reason our insurance is so high because of POS like this, I would bet any amount of money it was an inside job and they will be caught. Somebody there knows something.

As far as taking the lug nuts that would be a avg. of 1080 lug nuts, they would have to carry a bag or box also and you know how heavy that would be close to 200+ lbs the lugs nuts are very minor.

They did a lot of home work before doing this job as the area is very congested on the satellite photo.https://www.google.com/maps/@29.4860439,-98.6034972,587m/data=!3m1!1e3

Is anyone else wondering how they could spend 5 freaking hours doing this and never get caught? Something smells a little fishy to me...

I am wondering that myself. However, think about how NAVY SEALS (and other entities) perform their operations without anyone knowing. Sadly, these guys are good at what they do.

It happens alot. At our little dealership that sells about 60 cars a month, someone came in and stole wheels and tires from 12 trucks.
