Silverado Non Projector Headlight Upgrade

Yes sir, and these are the LED H11's without the annoying fan on the back. They fit great inside (you have to cut the dust cover to make fit), but overall they look fantastic and function even better. The "matching" fog lights aren't a true match, but they come pretty close for not being a true LED diode in the fogs...if you're interested in those too (plug n play).

What did you have to do as far as trimming the dust cover?

Used a dremel and carved an oval (half dollar size about), you can line up well if you take the whole headlight housing out.

Then lined inside the hole with HD foil and sealed outside with High-Temp silicone (red). Basically a huge lump on outside, just wait 12 hours or so to fully cure.

Been through some CRAZY ASS Texas weather this past month - they've performed great and held up like a champ! Driven 5+ hours at a time. I shouldn't need it, but I kept the halogen bulb just in case.

You can also buy custom extended dust covers on shapeways (3D printed) for about $160 total for both. I preferred the $5 route, haha!

I saw those covers. What an outrageous price! I know you're paying for their r&d but there is no way. No to mention you still have to drill a hole in those covers for the wire.

I'm confused as to why you'd need that larger dust cover to make the H11 LEDs from XD to work? Is it because there isn't enough room with the cooling strips and extra wiring? I'd be running these on a non-projector setup.

The back of the LED's come with the copper/aluminum strips to dissipate heat from the bulb to the housing (main reason).

Need enough room to clear these and the LED housing/bulb/diode-house looks a tad bit longer.

Thanks, do you have any pics of your setup?

I don't currently of the inside...I can send you some of them/fog lights at night if you PM me your email.

On this thread, very first page, they have a similar dust cover seal - you can search through the thread and probably find a great picture to mimic.

Im newer to this so bear with me. I have a 2014 with the standard reflector housing, im looking to purchase an aftermarket light that looks similar to the stock high country projectors. I dont want anything led, but I do want to upgrade to HID. Are their any kits that are basically plug and play, just have to swap out the lights and then hook the ballasts to ground and battery?

The Morimoto kits are very good. They include everything you need except for the headlight housings/lenses so you still need to buy factory projector housings. But after you get those the entire kit is plug-and-play:

Thanks SK - Do you know if they would require cutting the dust caps? Do you have any recommendations for aftermarket lights that looks like the stock LTZ/High Country projector headlights?

Ill check out that HID kit thanks.

I had a set of LED's in my 14 for about a week. I kept getting flashed at night. Currently running Phillips Crystal Vision bulbs and I am no longer looking for anything better. Very happy.

Yes, they'll have to be cut. If you do go that route, I'll send you my cut caps for your non cut caps. I have a spare set of headlights that are easier to sell without the cut dust caps.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
