For those who do not know. The Old Man In The Mountain is a HUGE deal here in NH. Its on everything from the plates, drivers license, state troopers, road signs, state flag, highway tokens, state quarter, and more.

I've passed by and looked at the old man many a time. It a sad day in NH.

I collect the state quarters and wondered what that was on NH's.  Makes sense now.

HOLY SH!T...that sucks....I practically grew up in new hampshire.....my grandparents have a little cottage on New Found lake in Bristol that we visted every summmer to get out of my parents hair when school was over.  I remember every year they made up "go visit the old man"....my sister and I always wanted to go swimming instead, but now I am kinda glad they made me go every year.  That sucks...I havn't been up there for a couple of years....and I had always told my woman about it and was gonna show her.....man if there was a time for crazy glue.....I think this is it.  sucks..man..sucks  ???

I remember when I was really young (5-6ish), my parents drove us all down to see "the Old Man on the Mountain".  I pictured an actual old man up on a mountain with, for some reason, a sherpard's staff (with the curve on the end).  I remember I was somewhat disappointed when it wasn't a real person.

Very sad, though.  The news said the experts knew it was going to come down but didn't think it would happen so quicky.

Man that totally sucks.  Our best friends live in NH and I fortunately have gotten to see the Old Man with my own eyes a few times.  It was an amazing sight to see and I hate to here of its demise.  I know I would be upset if someting happened to Grandfather Mountain here in NC.  My regrets to everyone in NH. :smash:
