Damn man that sucks hope ur ok...in regards to the vehicle, you should get your own body shop, and make sure they push for totaling the vehicle...this happened to me, the body shop did everything they could to total it and they did it...so don't let them direct u towards what they want...insurance companies are there to make money, obviously...so ya don't settle...

Dibs on the tail lights. Lol!

Seriously it should be a total loss. Who is your ins. company?

It probably will go through her insurance company I would imagine...

1500s can be rated up to 10,000lbs for towing. Which should be fine for this.

With the proper engine and options, they can be rated a bit higher:

12,000 lbs for a 2WD

11,900 lbs for a 4WD

I'm no expert here but I would say that's a total loss. Bent frame and gotta rebuild the entire cab and box. It's amazing how expensive new vehicles are to fix. I got my truck hailed on this past summer and there's 88 dents in the hood and roof. Only about 10 are visible but it's still $1500 damage.

I can only imagine how bad a new aluminum f150 would look if it took that hit. Glad you are okay! That's the main thing. Trucks can be replaced easy compared to your limbs or life.

Wow a 60mph hit to the door and that's all that happened?? Impressive!

Tho it does look like the Camry mostly went under the truck, which probably helped.

A $50k truck is going to be tough to total out... and if they DO total it out, I hope you get replacement cost for it.

This would be a great donor vehicle for someone. Hmmm depending on the buy back price (assuming total loss) I could be interested.

Your state may be different, but here in IL they don't let you "buy back" totaled vehicles unless they're several years old. They have a fear of the car being put back on the road.

A buddy of mine tried to do it last summer - buy-back on a ~2 year old VW GTI was dirt cheap (like $2500) and he was going to JUMP on it to part it out, when finally he was told that he never should have been given the buyout price... in IL anyways, they won't let you, car was too new.

I hope they total it so you can buy the 2500HD you should have bought in the first place, a 1500 has no business towing a 9,000lbs boat!

Then maybe you should notify GM about why this 12K tow rating I see in my owners manual is incorrect. As long as it has a tow package, a 1500 is very capable at 9k. To the original poster, best of luck with it! And yes I do hope they total it!!

Sorry about your accident and glad everyone is ok. As far as totaling the truck out, as stated by others with the cost of these trucks it will be tough to reach the threshold necessary. I am unaware of your local laws as it pertains to repairs, but have seen firsthand and performed repairs on a car with less than 70 miles that was t-boned, a couple trucks that had rolled over, a Jeep that required sections of the frame replaced that were deemed repairable by the insurance companies. Your choice in insurance company can also be a big influence, without naming names, some are less than appealing when it comes to paying out. A quick Google search does list FL as a no-fault insurance state as well, so it will be your insurance covering the cost.

Wow looks like our trucks have great side impact rating. Glad to know. Hope all is well. Watch out for neck stiffness. You'd be surprised how it sneaks up on you. I've been in treatment for 5 months now with little improvement. Just make sure you don't ignore any discomfort.

You'd be surprised at how much they'll fix. If you drove it home they can probably fix it. My 2014 got hit similar to that but closer to the front, it was like 10k to fix

Insurance company flipped the **** out and raised my rates even thought it wasn't my fault because it was a huge claim.

I am guessing the F-150 wouldn't even have a ding in it as the aluminum is not paper thin like these trucks, the aluminum is getting ready to get even thinner and MUCH stronger at the same time. I don't hear Ford guys complaining like we do about denting their trucks when they are hand washing them...

Not a chance they fix that and if they try to, fight it, because imo that truck will never be right again.

Not so fast.

I say the odds are 70-30 they repair it.

As stated above, your body shop rep may help to sway the adjuster into a total.

I know I wouldn't want it back.

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
