2016 Sierra All Terrain Hood Deflectors and paint chips

I read through the forums and all the threads were for the 2014s and 2015s.

I have a couple small paint chips on the hood and bumpeer. Can't believe the crappy paint on this things are already chipping at 1500 miles.

Anyways. I'm going to touch them up and get the front bumper a clear bra.

I'd like to do a low profile hood deflector for the top of the hood, but I can't find any.

Checked out a few manufacturers and Amazon. And they say it doesn't fit the 2016.

Is this because the hood has the little notch under the front center now above the grill?

Anyone have a 2016 Sierra with a hood deflector?

What are you all using?

Any low profile choices like the AVS Aero skin?

How do them mount?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I called AVS about the aero skin and was told that it would fit the 2016. After a while on the internet I found that it was cheapest to order one through Autozone. It should come in today so I can't speak to fitment yet but I do know it attaches via double-sides 3M tape.

Oh...cool.

Any experience with the double sided tape?

How well does it hold?

Wonder if it will damage the paint when it's time to remove?

I am still waiting on the part to come in so I can't say but from the reviews I have read most of the reviews are very good, of course there are always a few bad ones but someones always bound to have a bad experience no matter what. As far as the 3M is concerned I have heard you have to take your time and making sure it is lined up properly because once it's on there, it's on there.

I'd love see pictures when yours is installed.

How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking.

As soon as my new truck gets here I am ordering some Expel clear bra material and covering the front end of my truck. I am not taking a chance, cant blame the manufactures on this one. All of the blame goes to the EPA on them mandating that all domestic manufactures use water based paints. My dad work for GM for 30 years in the plants, he said the worst thing that was ever done was the change over to water based systems.

The dealer offered an aeroskin and a standard deflector. The double sided tape works quite well if you prep the surface first with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol wipe supplied is crap, get a bottle and a microfiber cloth and do it right. I chose the standard deflector as it sits up a little higher to protect the rest of the hood and deflect debris over the roof. GM Accessories Lund Hood deflector

Is the xpel stuff a kit you install yourself, do you get it through a dealer?

I'll do the hood deflector on top because I had the clear bra on the front edge of the hood in my previous vehicle and after 6 years when I removed it, the paint had faded to different colors. Now this was a Navy blue vehicle so the fading may be more noticeable than my current black.

So I figure clear bra below and hood deflector above.

Just wonder what the cost of the xpel is and if it's something I can do.

Picked up the Aero skin (part #322075) today and was about install it when I noticed a paint chip or two that was down to the white primer, so I think I am going to wait until I can get those fixed before final installation. Here are some photos of it just laid in place. I must say the fit is great and it lays very flat on the hood. From certain angles you cant even tell it's there. Sorry for the dirty car.

That looks much better than a normal hood guard.

I have 15000 km's on my 15' and warranty is painting my bumper due to chips. So def clear bra it while yours is still good.

I will be installing one once i get it painted.

That was actually part of the agreement that I clear bra it after they paint it.

I personally think these bug guards do very little to help the Sierra. The part that "needs" to be protected (top of grille) is in front of the bug guard. Plus these trucks are so much more "aero" sensitive today.. it could mean added wind noise.

It's all about the grille and painted front bumpers with these AT trucks. Xpel seems like the only real solution.

Checked the self install xpel stuff. Stuff is expensive. Especially considering that it's self install pricing.

And they don't have a full frontal kit. You have to order a grill kit and a lower bumper kit.

Am I looking at the wrong thing?

Ordered the aero skin today from amazon for $47.

And a can of touch up paint to touch up to two pen tip size nicks at the front of the hood. Then I'll install the deflector.

I'll just need the grill and bumper clear bra. Wonder what it cost to get it professionally installed.
