No word on timing yet but what we do know is you must have a 2016 to get it (it won't work on the 2014/2015 radios).

Initially GM said March 2016 and we are very close. I am very I interested in this as well.

Just wanted to update everyone. GM has released the android auto update for compatible vehicles.

My dealer said they haven't received the disc containing the update yet but did get the email from GM and they expect the disc any day.

I was at the Dealer today they have no update Contacted GM they said Owners will receive notification some time after March 7th on when the update can be installed. The tech at the dealership looked at the apps he had on his laptop nothing for android auto so at least my dealer has not been pushed the update kinda funny GM has a press release stating it is available yet it's not

Mine has the update (was done early in March).

Dealer service advisor wasn't aware it was available, but they researched it and had it installed before I left. Was a couple hours for update / oil change / tire rotation / wash.

I just got a '16 Sierra. For the life of me, I couldnt get it to work. Which USB port did you guys use to connect to Android Auto? Any tips on how to connect?

For about a 2 month span some 2016 trucks got the 2015 stereo which does not support android auto. This was due to a supplier unable to make enough stereos.

GM gave a $200 credit on these trucks. If you have your window sticker it should show this $200.

If your truck does have the 2016 stereo then it should have a "projection" icon on the screen somewhere.

To use Android auto, you have to download the Android Auto app first. Once you've got that, it should work in any usb port. Carplay doesn't require an app; you just plug it in and go...

As Matt said, there was a large number of 2016's that weren't equipped. If you bought the i06 (nav), it will have it. If you bought i05, you may want to check your window sticker. An easier way to tell is: if you have the projection app on your truck home screen, your truck has it. If not, you probably don't.

If all else fails, and you do have the projection icon, bring it in for the update.

Took truck to dealer, android auto was installed. Works great. i was sorely disappointed to see that Waze isn't supported even though they said they would be. Oh well.
