Truck "broken" in to lastnight.

Well some scumbag managed to break into my truck lastnight, no damage no alarm wtf. Back door was opened tools stolen. How the hell is this

possible? was definitely locked and I have the upgraded alarm. so pissed right now.

Does the alarm manufacturer have some type of protection warranty in case the alarm doesn't work properly? Covers costs of the break-in?

I believe so it's KARR. currently on phone with onstar ripping them a new one. $50000 truck that can easily be unlocked is not good...

One thing you might want to take a look at is the top frame of the door that was left open. See if it's bent out from the truck body. If it is then whomever broke may have used an air bag to pry the door back enough to use something to flip the lock.

 

Had this happen a while back on one of my vehicles. They didn't get in (I think they may have seen me. Me not knowing what was going on). but the inner door handle had mild scratches and the paint on the pillar was scratched from a coat hangar or whatever they were using to flip the lock.

No damage at all, police were out already. They somehow unlocked and bypassed alarm electronically with a dongle or device. onstar has no records of alarm going off. Officer said this was the 5th silverado recently broken into with no forced entry or alarm.....

Just be cautious and aware your alarm/and fob is basically worthless now only useful as a remote lock. These trucks are no longer "secure".

Trying to follow this and understand what "upgraded alarm" is. Do you have an upgrade to the standard alarm system or aftermarket alarm? I've never heard of "upgraded alarm".

 

Just be cautious and aware your alarm/and fob is basically worthless now only useful as a remote lock. These trucks are no longer "secure".

 

Very concerned about this!

Though I would think a good portion of the petty thieves stealing tools aren't capable of bypassing two alarms and entering a vehicle unforced, it is possible. What I think is more possible is either you forgot to lock it or thought you did and it didn't by it not entirely having the button pushed or some other weird factor, happens all the time. That is why I watch to make sure my garage is fully closed, seen it go back up on its own once in a blue moon. Sorry and that sucks, any way to park it inside?

Did you purchase it new? 1 thing that I have witnessed 1st hand, is that onstar is very slow to remove permissions from a previous owner's onstar app. They can use their remote link app to unlock a truck that they no longer own for quite a long time before onstar deactivates it.

Brand new 2015 bought oct 31st. I have a dealer installed "KARR" alarm installed that has disable and shock sensor. It was definitely locked check it before going to bed every night. Knuckleheads have some sort of device that acts as fob apparently.

If you're going to get robbed anyway, at least they didn't damage your truck in the process.

 

Hopefully they haven't figured out how to remote hack into our trucks.

Yeah I agree about the no damage, I am extremely relieved for that. I am saying though that they have figured out a bypass/hack to gain entry into these trucks with some sort of

scanner. I checked my truck at 12pm and it was locked went to get into it at 5:30 and door was opened. Neighbors bedroom window open and 15 ft away from truck heard no alarm or ruckuss. Also parked on a high traffic main road not a side street.

Thanks for the clarification, although not good overall. Glad there was no damage. I do remember a problem with OnStar's App where it could be hacked, but they quickly released a new version which supposedly fixed it. So what's next...tires and wheels with locks stolen...now our alarm isn't really that good...

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
