Truck "broken" in to lastnight.

Well it did happen, waiting on KARR tech to come out to do their tests. Like I said the officer that was here said this is the 5th truck he's seen in my area in the last few months accessed this way. There is absolutely no way it was unlocked, I walked out and did my nightly make sure all doors are locked and tailgate locked at 12am before I went to sleep.

They could've somehow gotten your onstar login info and unlocked it via an app?

No damage at all, police were out already. They somehow unlocked and bypassed alarm electronically with a dongle or device. onstar has no records of alarm going off. Officer said this was the 5th silverado recently broken into with no forced entry or alarm.....

This happened to my 04 Sierra and my mothers 09 G6 in the same night. My bedroom was by the driveway and no alarm went off on either car so it did not wake me. But this was a few years ago in Bakersfield.

I've heard of this method before... "these break-ins seem to happen only to cars that use remote keyless systems, which replace traditional keys with wireless fobs." Referring the Prius and others in the article. But this is a little different than our key/fob, isn't it? Another reason NOT to buy a Prius hehe...(sarcasm)

Yeah our trucks don't have this. My wife's CX5 and my old AMG had it but my on my 2016 silverado, I actually have to press a button on my keyfob to unlock the doors.

Hearing crap like this makes me soo pissed off.. i like customizing my vehicles and dumb ass punks that choose not to work steal from hard working people. I feel sorry for the person or persons who do something to mine... night time vision hd cameras. And my German shepherd on a zip line... try it I dare you

So after hitting banks and home depot to replace a few of the tools (which sucks because it was mostly a whole bunch of small miscellaneous shit that totaled about $1200 plus a few power tools) the KARR security rep came out and said my $600 alarm is working as intended....LOL. I don't think if something can be bypassed by a device it is working as intended. When I was sold the system I was told only my 2 fobs can activate it. The rep is blaming dealer said maybe someone has a master fob..wtf. Currently dealing with dealer to see If I can get my money back

and just buy a big dog to park in the back at night.

There was an incident up here in the Detroit area a few months back a friend of mine was downtown. A guy was walking around with a fob hitting the button. Truck lights flash guy got in and ran thru the median. Stole the truck. Police said the newer chevy's are easy to get into electronically.

I too am a habitual door locker. Even tho I carry nothing in the truck. I always lock it.

Sorry dude. Any GM alarm that uses the factory remote or triggers is worthless and can be disabled with a pick tool about as fast as using a key. Remember, it is nothing more than a door unlocking remote and a remote starter. Not a theft deterrent to any bad guy with half a brain and a few days experience.

Yeah I agree, I mean I'm lucky I offload 99% of my tools in the evening and they only got about 2k worth of stuff. The bummer is that nothing was visible, I think they just ran around with their tool and my truck unlocked and it turned out to be a jackpot. I just can never rest easy with it parked anywhere anytime now.
