Hood Bounce

I had a closer look and it looks like what I'm seeing is the hood is lifting. I can pull up on the hood about an 1/8" while its still latched so I don't think its an aluminum issue. I tried both my wife's and daughters cars and both their hoods are firm. No movement up or down. I suppose I could probably adjust bump stop up a bit but the hood currently is flush with fenders. Not sure if the latch mechanism can be adjusted down. Can't be good the hood working in the latch mechanism... sooner or later somethings going to break.

Stick some clay on the bump stops and see if they are touching the hood. If not, adjust up.

Adjusted the bump stops up, I now push down 1/8". I didn't realize they are all across the front. Some wind today so took for drive and the hood didn't move until I pulled up behind tractor trailer which caused some bounce. Guess time will tell if its actually better. Next time I see another like truck, I will see if the hood has movement. Maybe that's the way the latch mechanism is.

Probably suitable for a 1954 Ford farm tractor.

I noticed this the day I bought my truck and was driving 300 miles back home. I actually pulled over to the first rest station thinking the hood wasn't latched.

I checked a couple other trucks today and all there hood latches were solid. No movement up or down.

I'm so sick of taking this thing to the dealer.

Have you tried adjusting the latch? Maybe all it takes is loosening a few bolts and retightening them.

I'll have a look, never thought of that.

It should be a way to adjust the latch somehow. You're the first I've read that had that problem. Not saying you're the only one, just the only one I can remember on here. It's not a huge surprise since I've seen where people had 1 tailgate cable longer than the other. It might just be something you can do for a couple bucks and a trip to Lowe's. My hood does flex a little in the middle while on the interstate, but it really didn't start doing that until I put the bug/hoodshield on it. At first it bothered me, but I don't even look at it anymore. It seems secure so I'm not worried.

Fixed. There's lots of adjustment in the latch. Moved it down, re-adjusted bump stops and the hood is now latched nice an tight. Thanks for the suggestions.

Is the hood height still lined up with the fenders?

Yes. Knowing what I know now I would have adjusted the latch down first. Then moved the bump stops to line it all up. The corners for the fender and the center ones (there 4) I adjusted to be parallel with the grill. I could actually see a little flex when I first adjusted the latch down because stops were too high. I put a little pipe dope on them to make sure they were touching the hood. When I looked at the other trucks I could tell by the distance between hood a grill that mine was too high.

Mine flutters but only in the middle of the hood. My 08 did it only significantly less. There aren't enough stiffening lines or underside framing to keep it stiff. i am not bothered by it. i bet 2017 gets a redesigned hood lol

My '14 hood, fluttered but up by the windshield in the center. It was very distracting on the interstate. Long term plan for me was to get into the cavity there and put some dense foam in the void. No, not the spray, something like large weatherstripping.

Same issue with flutter/shake in the middle of the hood. All lined up with fenders and grill. Nerve wracking

running down the interstate. $56k includes a shaky hood option. WTF? Are you listening GM????
