Hood Bounce

Anybody else here have a hood that bounces a lot in windy conditions?

It almost looks like its bending and I'm expecting some day its just going to fly open. Never seen a hood do this.

Have you tried adjusting the bump stops?

I'll have a look this weekend.

I think the hood is aluminum right? Its going to flex more than a traditional hood. Mine does it slightly but not that noticeable. One of my old mustangs I had a fiberglass hood and it did this pretty bad at high speeds but I never had any issues. Unless the locking mechanism fails, the hood is not going to rip in half and fly off.

Mine does it as well. It's part of the professional grade package.

You mean "professional vibration package"?

It's all aluminum so it has give. I will not even put my weight down on the hood when I wash the truck.

aluminum is lighter and thinner ... ... anything to make the truck lighter each year. god awful driveablity and front air dams that site a foot off the ground. You demand great gas millage.....here is your receipt.

GM doesn't care.. at the end of the day that just want to do whatever is needed to claim better MPG than Ford... whatever it takes.

While aluminum is about 3 times lighter than steel per equal volume, this does not mean they could not make the aluminum hood with enough stiffeners to prevent flexing and shaking of the hood.

Exactly. The problem is not the material that the hood is made out of. The problem is that gm doesn't give a shit.

I have only had my truck for a week. This was the first issue I noticed with the truck, I guess since it was really windy the day I picked it up. My 08 Tahoe's hood was steel and didnt flex in the slightest bit. I wonder if putting something on the backside of the hood like dynamat or something similar would help
