Been looking to swap my stock chrome bumper for a painted one, came across these - price not bad so decided to give them a try. Quality seems surprisingly good, especially for the price. Any experience with these?

Doesn't look too bad, but I still see it as a cheap way to go. Same as just a gas door cover that you put on with double sided tape. Or from awhile ago when someone bought a product similar but for the rims which too me was just the next step up from hub caps. I plan to have my bumpers black chromed so they're color matched but have the chrome look and durability over paint.

They have a pic of one on the front but not the actual front that I can find in the store.

 

If you want to "Try on" a paint color bumper and all this seems like a great idea, but, $189 for the rear plus paint, I mean a painted rear bumper might be less/similar? You just have to install it.

Thanks. I am still looking for a painted bumper to swap as a permanent option - finding someone looking to trade their painted for chrome is the tough part. Anyone in TX looking to do this swap, PM me. Found a guy on here, but was in TN and shipping is always a tough sell. A new step bumper is about $600+paint so am content for now. There is some tape on the underside, but mainly for extra hold. I like the primary way it attaches under the existing trim. Sinks about 2 inches deep, which isn't normally impressive but enough for this job.

 

Agreed on the reverse sensors - driving me crazy.

So are you saying the sensors need to be removed and then put back on after the covers are attached?

That's an option, as well as DIY paint (but not sure I'm willing to commit that far). I want to see the durability of this thing over the course of a couple months before going any further with detail mods

Not sure, haven't looked into it. I know black chrome has been around for a little while and my exhaust tips are black chrome.

I think its called "PVD" black chrome.

 

OE wheels LLC has a vendor that does it for rims.

 

You may be able to find a provider from a cutsom rim shop. Doesn't seem like its obscenely expensive.

I like their Aerobox. Not sure if it would be too heavy, but seems like a neat idea.

I had both of my bumpers wrapped in 3m Black Gloss Vinyl... exact color match and holds up 10x better than paint.

 

I used Illeet Auto Wrap out of Austin, TX...Enrique's Instagram tag is @ILLEET_Auto_Wrap, did a fantastic job and has held up 3 months down the line now.

 

Oh yeah.. he also charged me $300 for both bumpers with a 1 year warranty and finished the work in (1) day. I also had my headlight trim and grill surround wrapped.

looks pretty good on black - I wonder how closely they can match summit white with their gloss white - white is hard to match up right....
