I'm wanting to install a transmission oil cooler & need to remove the grill to be able to mount the cooler. How do I or what is the procedure for removing the grill? :chevy:

a couple of guys have put out vidz...it's pretty easy, basically 3 steps: 1) take off top cover over radiator, about 10 popnlock pushpins, 2) take off upper painted bumper cover by loosening side wheel well trim (torx screws and 7mm screws) and then the upper bumper cover (this is the hardest - get underneath and pop out the 6 tabs with a screwdriver to help pull it out), and 3) taking out the grille and 8 screws (4 on top and 4 on bottom)...pm me if you get stuck....

Just did this yesterday. It's incredibly easy, takes probably 20 minutes max. There's a few detailed how tos already on here.

There is already an external trans cooler on these trucks, it's on top of the condenser for the a/c. And if you're wondering why the Temps float in the 190's while driving it's bc the transmission has a thermostat. GM claims it makes the transmission shift smoother with the warmer fluid

Just unscrew it and it will fall off!

When towing, I've seen my trans temp hit 227°. Keeping it around 200° will prolong it's life.
