Fun button

My biggest gripe with these trucks is the undefeatable stability control. Since stabilitrak uses the abs system to control the vehicle I was trying to find a way to wire in a switch to turn the power on/off as needed. The problem is the abs pump is a 60amp fuse which means I would need to have a relay. It was hard to find a 60a 12v relay and even harder to find a nice way to splice into the abs power wire. Then I had this great idea, why don't I try unplugging a wheel speed sensor since is just a low power signal wire and see if that causes a fault and turns off stabilitrak. Low and behold not only does it turn off stabilitrak, it also turns off traction control! When you plug the sensor back in, everything reverts to normal with no codes. So now I have what I call the fun button that I can hit to turn off both systems and then revert back to a safe operating status the rest of the time. I figured I'd pass this along to others out there like me who like to have complete control of their vehicles.

Stability control turns back on at 35mph nomater what. Plus it's annoying to have to hold down the button for 5-10 seconds. I've had stability control turn back on while I was mid drift and almost put me off the road, not a fun experience. Now all I have to do is turn my new switch to off and everything stays off.

It can be fully turned off, not sure why you went through all that trouble, it has a "fun button" from the factory

Lol he's not the only one with that same issue.

Mine is the same way

So I read ur original post... but reading your second post you say now all I have to do is hit off? Where is off? I'm confused now

So when you say "Hit off" or "Fun button" you mean unplugging the speed sensor?

Effectively yes. I wired a switch inline with the left front wheel speed sensor and put the switch in my dash. I hit the switch and it opens the circuit which prevents the speed sensor from sending the signal. The BCM then notices the faulty sensor and turns off stabilitrak and traction control since it needs to know the speed of each wheel to function properly.

I have a good question... how many 6.2 nht have this issue?

What do you mean issue? It's how the traction control and stabilitrak work on all K2xx trucks. Hit the tc button to turn it off, hold it down to turn off stabilitrak. Both stay off if you are below 35mph. Go above that and only stabilitrak turns back on. With my "fun button" switch I cut power to the wheel sensor so the system faults and both stay off until I turn power back on for the wheel speed sensor.

I don't think you have seen my video a while back... I turn everything off tc. And stb. And I can only spin my tires for almost 2 seconds. No where near the 35mph...

So you are saying it cuts in well before 35mph or you can spin then way past 35mph?

It cuts in well before 35

I wanna say it hits 20 mph and it cuts in

I saw the video...Silver ice has the special California emissions on his 6.2. It prevents long smoking burnouts to control the air pollution. I have seen smart cars do better burnouts..... :driving:

Hell, try unplugging a wheel sensor Ice. Make sure you video it and post a link. I do think that the OP has found the solution to this "problem".

OP, can you post a few pictures of the connection and the switch?

my 6.2 NHT goes to about 35 as mentioned above before the computer turns it back on.
