2015 Silverado Accident

Recommended Posts

Wednesday night while driving my dog to the vet a Saturn decided to take a left turn in front of me while I was doing 40-45 mph. My arms a little sore but other than that I'm fine, my dog is also fine. the other driver was ticketed and his insurance has already accepted responsibility for the accident. His car was definitely totaled. Wondering what you guys thought about the damage to mine, the front is pretty smashed up, the passenger door doesn't open, the doors and the tailgate don't sit flush with the body and the bed gap is off a 1/4" from the driver side to passenger side. The driver side airbag also went off. My truck is only 4 months old.

Glad you're safe. Enjoy your 2016 purchase in the coming weeks/months. Hope their insurance doesn't stall too much. Took 9 months to get settlement on an accident I had that was not my fault. Some insurance companies stall and delay in the hopes that you'll cave. Stay strong and don't back down. Your insurance company will do most of the work for you.

It's surprising how often the old saw about wrecking your car in the first 6 months after buying or after paying off is correct.

Glad everyone's ok.

Whatever you do, do not asccept anything less than the full replacement value for your truck. And whatever you do, don't let then talk you into fixing it. This truck is never going to be the same.

With that damage and deployed air bags that vehicle is a gonner......if not totaled, drag it to a dealer as is for trade.

That's why owning instead of leasing, and the cost of comprehensive/collision insurance is worth every nickel! Whether your fault or not for the accident, you have the check in your hands one or two days later.....have the wreck towed into the nearest Chevy dealer......sign over the title and insurance check as the trade and for a few extra bucks you're driving out in a new vehicle with a full warranty.....no rentals, no wait for repairs, no aggravation, no used or non OEM repair parts or acrylic spray job to worry about, no depreciation for past repair on a future trade and piece of mind knowing what you are driving has a fully intact and functional air bag system instead of components from a salvage yard should there be a future accident. And if not charged with the accident, a check for the insurance deductible will be forthcoming to buy a few accessories.

Been there twice in the past 40 years.....found that dealers are more than willing to accommodate because they have an extra margin....... dealer's auto body shop is also making bucks from the insurance reimbursement on the repairs.

Man, that's a lot of damage for hitting a Saturn. Did he get hit in the engine bay to buckle your truck like that.

Modern passenger vehicles are designed to crumple up in order to meet crash safety regulations.

I don't know man. Looks like they'll try and fix it. The cost of repair doesn't look like more than the truck is worth.

People who say not to settle for a fixed truck claiming it'll never be the same are full of shit. Bring it to a good shop and you'll have a truck in better condition than most new ones with their cheap paint.
