I didn't notice mine flickered for a few days until I was behind another truck and the reflection on their tailgate showed the flickering. There could be others out there with a flicker but never noticed because it goes away after 5-10 min of driving. I have gone through everything checking all possable problem areas. There are no cut wires, ground is working, battery and alternator are good. I had a theory the driver side only does it maybe because it is a much shorter distance from the fuse block and maybe.

I was thinking the same thing, the wire is short enough that the resistance is a little less than the passenger side. Like you said this is a tough one to test since you have a 5 minute window to catch it and the vehicle has to be in gear for the DRL's to turn on. Maybe there are more flickering problems. The voltage output on the these trucks is determined by a multitude of things and cab be anywhere from 11 V at 10% duty cycle to 15.5 V at 90% duty cycle. I think during the initial start-up before the truck is warm its going into a charge mode with a higher voltage output just high enough to cause issues. The truck warms up and a lower duty cycle charge mode is selected, the voltage drops and the issue goes away. Try this for a test. After the truck has warmed up, Turn on everything you can to create and electrical Demand, Heated seats or cooled if you got them, AC at full blast, Rear defogger on, This may or may not create a condition to get the alternator into a higher output to test and see if the DRL flickers with the turn signal activated.

If that were the case couldn't you put a load on the alternator like a battery test and see if that causes the issue to pop up again?

Yeah exactly just need to load the electrical system to tell the BCM to increase the duty cycle, most people don't have a battery tester to go that route though so you have to improvise and create some load another way.

I received the gen5 harness and it looks like they shipped the wrong one. The part I ordered 250430 was supposed to be the redisgned harness that looks like Van's harness but I think I got a Sle to Slt harness. Now have to wait till tomorrow for them to call me back

Does that mean you'll be hell bent on figuring out the DRL cut off??

The truck looks great! The black in the lights and the black grill blends well.

I have a prototype control board built for the DRL just need to cut it in and test it. It's bench tested and works fine my only concern is once it's cut in, i'm not sure how the additional resistance of the relay coil is going to affect the computer for the turn signal flash, I may have to pull the 6 ohm load resistor and run a different resistor in parallel with the cut off. The weather was just too nice this weekend to do any wrenching, when you saw me on Saturday we were headed up to Bass Lake.

The DRL are on full blast during the day and cut off when a turn signal is applied. Then at night the DRL come on at half power and don't cut off with a turn signal. With what I have I couldn't mimic this so something custom would probably have to be made.

The circuit to do this is pretty simple, only takes a few components paired up with a normally closed relay, It's just the relay coil impedance that might mess with the BCM turn signal function when it sees 360 ohms of coil resistance, maybe nothing

We do not copy, have the same thing happen on a different car 2 years ago where the lights go off with out a Cap in the harness, and we found that the harness that we make for the trucks needed it too, thats the harness you think we coped, funny how we get the calls to fix things, we dont sell this harness for you app as it does not work all the way.

 

and reasonably priced at 200 Dollars for 25 dollars in material and 30 minutes of labor.

Pleas tell me where you get the drugs your on, we sale a harness with 4 relays and charge for it fairly, the harness that your working on we sell at 99.99 so that's 1/2 the amount your thinking it is, its fine to think its only 30 min to make them, when you do 5 or 6 by hand but when you get to where we make 1000 harness a month or more its more them 30 min to make harness, but hay good luck.

Lastly we do have a harness coming out that will work like the OE that can cut the DRL in turning mod, will be done in 2 weeks when i get back form going to the wire show.

He's not talking about copying by adding a cap. He's talking about how you guys sell a whole HID style harness with relays and all. Then after an alternative is found here you have a similar setup available..

You got a call because you seem knowledgeable and so far no one else has been able to solve this mysterious issue with DRL flicker on 6.2L, Either way he tried your suggestion of a 25v cap on the DRL and it didnt work so we are back to square one.
