Retirement

Congrats. I won't make it to retirement, I expect a heart attack or cancer or stroke to take me well before I turn 60. Don't let it happen to you. And don't be afraid to go back to work because retirement gets old after awhile, at least it does for just about everyone I know who has retired.

Let's see I'm going on two years retired, been on three cruises, 5 trips to myrtal beach, finally bought a condo their that I rent trough vacation rentals, cost me nothing to own. Work (play with my toys). When I think I'm getting board or lazy I turn on my uber app. and get paid to go on rides. I'm so glad my brother out of the blue decided to buy me out of the family business, I'm not even 61 yet. I've been working since I was 12, not going back.

Congrats and thank you for your service! Retirement is wonderful. The pay isn't as good, but the hours are fantastic!

Many of us thought this way at one time or another and believe in "living for today". I lost two siblings and a few close friends prior to their retirements. I am sure glad and somewhat surprised that I reached my sixties. I left the workforce six years ago and admittedly miss some of the benefits of working, but not nearly as much as I enjoy retirement. My only wish is that I had put more of my "today" money away for "tomorrow"! Odds are that you will reach retirement age so be prepared. It sneaks up on you very quickly!

Hope to last to retire in about two years. Wondering if the Sierra's make it that long.

Thank you all for your kind words. My career was in Aerospace Ground Equipment...AGE for short. The only thing I didn't work on was the aircraft. Heaters, air conditioners, generators, hydraulic test stands, light all's, maintenance stands of all kinds, aircraft jacks & on & on & on. I worked every position & duty ending with being the Flight Chief. Now to have my first summer vacation in 20 years. Then figure out what I'm going to do when I grow up...[emoji2]

So to put it bluntly, you made sure the tools that the maintainers used on the aircraft were in top shape. Did you work with fighters or heavys?
