Add me to the list. 2014 with 6.2L that has had the noise since near new and now has 24,000 miles. Mentioned the noise at first oil change and was told dealer could not replicate. I have it in for service today and am having them look at the problem again.

My noise is under light load at 1,000 - 1,500 RPM with the engine lugging a bit - as soon as the engine downshifts, the leaky manifold ticking goes away. Agree the noise is likely not causing harm, but is annoying as hell!

had it at the dealer and like a few others on here I guess they just replace the fuel pump tube that has the check valve in it. didn't fix the noise. its still there

That's what they did to my engine as well. I still have the noise. The technician said there is a GM bulletin out for this fuel pump tube.

I think after reading these posts and listening to my engine (it's getting worse) that it sounds more and more like a exhaust manifold leak.

I thought the dealer found a crack in your exhaust? maybe i misunderstood you.

Exactly what my 5.3 is doing. Called two dealers and both said its nothing uncommon and I could bring it in but they cant promise anything would change. Im thinking this is normal as many have it with no fix.

UPDATE: Since June i've been to the dealer 4 times and had 3 drives with technicians to diagnose my engine tick. the replaced the fuel line to the DI pump. It didn't fix the problem. the noise has gotten worse to the point that it is ticking very loud in V8 or V4 mode. pulling a trailer it is ticking like a sewing machine.

I have driving my friends 2014 LTZ Chev and it works perfectly.

Finally got it in again today and the dealer called saying they have ordered a new fuel pump for the truck. Fingers crossed this will fix it.

I hear my direct injection outside the cab, but not inside at all. That's all I can think as well. Sometimes it's worse than others.

The knock/tick I am trying to fix, i can hear from inside the cab going down the road. I don't mind the slight DI tick at idle. I hope a new pump corrects it.

Sounds to me like it's the ol famous Chevy valve tap. I've had that in all the GM vehicles I've owned. Nothing to worry about but if it's bugging you that bad, check the valve lash, springs, tensioners, etc.

New pump installed this morning. Work order showed the part cost about $500. I just picked it up at lunch and drove 10 km but so far so good. the tech did tell me to drive it and break in the new pump. If the noise shows up again, his next move if replacing the valve lifters as Busaholic said.

What type of "high pressure" fuel pump is used on these ECO-TEC engines??? Got a theory that goes back to my diesel driving days; but need to know the kind of pump and how it's driven.

I'm not sure on the type of pump. I was told that the pump is driving off the old distributor gear at the back of the motor.

I can't tell you how many times people have freaked out over the tick from the direct injectors firing. I'm on my 2nd K2XX truck and neither has had anything other than the normal tick sound. But then some people have sensitive hearing. I don't. And I put my electric cutout from my 14 on my 16, so its loud as F now so who cares. hahahaha
