Good morning Gbear,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing a concern with the quality of your paint. I realize at this time you are looking to other forum members to see if anyone has input on your situation. However, I would be more than willing to reach out to the dealership on your behalf to make them aware of your concern. If you would like to visit the dealer, please send me a private message with more details.

All the best,

Julianne M.

Thanks, I have spoke to my gm dealership and they are working on it..

Aside from the paint being incredibly thin and marking super easily, I did not notice any impurities in my paint. Just annoying that under light use the paint can't hold up.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but I just bought a brand new 2016 Silverado LT Deep Ocean Blue and on my trip home, several bug splashed the usual front areas and mirrors, While I was trying to wash them away I was astonished to notice that the paint easily lifted in a couple of spots in the hood and are very visible. So I called the dealership after having spent a TON of Money and hoping for help, they arrogantly cut me off and said that they cannot do anything once the truck leaves the dealership. I'm now really concerned that the whole paint might be defective and don't know what to do other than thinking about having to pay for the repair and selling it and take as minimum as possible loss before its too late, it just reached 1K miles. HELP!!!!

While I agree that the paint on these trucks are not the best. I will say that I just bought a Kia Sorento for my wife that has been sitting on the dealer lot for about 6 months and the paint is all jacked up on it. I have been clay baring it polishes and what not trying to get the paint back to where it should be. There was so much contamination in the paint it was crazy. It took me about an hour just to clay bar the hood due to the contamination being so severe. I am waiting on my Adams Polishes clay bar to come in the mail so I can finish.

Moral of the story is I don't think that it is just GM with this weak paint however, in your situation I would be looking for another dealer.

There is a serious problem with Gms paint sticking to the primer if you really want to cry go down to you so called rock gaurd on your truck and you can peel it of with your finger nail and see perfect primer under it getting a new truck because of my paint but am so afraid I will just have same issues good luck

You have three year 36 thousand on your paint they have to cover it or threaten them with lawyer usually gets people attention like you said just spent an ass ton of money not for half ass paint job

I think the paint should be way thicker or more coatings added it chips to easy. Think they just do it the cheapest way the can. Other than that I really like my silver paint

Proper maintence is key. Paint is like skin it breathes, has inperfections, and traps dirt and oil. Learning how to maintain your paint is vital to keep it in good shape and looking sharp. With 3m protection when its new and then wax it as much as possible, it will build a protective layer. My friends truck is a year newer than my 15 and looks 10 times worse. People ask me if my paint is factory, i say yes just cared for properly. If you dont spend 4-5 hours washing and waxing, your doing it wrong. My point is that problems arent so much with the paint as the owner. Conditions you put the vehicle through, where it is parked, road driven, weather will all beat your paint up fast. I go to sources like DRIVEclean and AMMO NYC on youtube for cleaning and protecting tips.

I have a spot of dirt on my roof as well. I had one on the top of the door on my 08 and the dealer repainted that. This one is sealed up, so I'm inclined to leave it be for now.

The OP was talking about debris in the paint, not whether the paint is thin and crappy. I've noticed small chunks of dirt or whatever on the sides of my tailgate as well.

thanks for understanding my note.

Nuff said!

These imperfections / debris are on the metal before the factory "who should have better quality control" painted it.. I found it while waxing and polishing it at the 300 mile mark on the odometer.

Thanks
