Over the years it seems that scanning this forum, Bilstiens are what most install and really like.

Bilstiens or Monroe Reflex. I put a set of Monroe Reflex shocks on my 96 K1500 and they are great.

wow 13 years on those shocks, depending on how many miles you have on them i would be pricing the gm stock shocks. unless you are always hauling or carrying weight then look at bilsteins

I've been happy with Bilstiens for the last 48k.

I am running the Rancho RS9000XL Adjustable shocks on my Silverados and couldn't be happier. They have been great while towing heavy and while empty. The adjustability is great and allows you to control ride stiffness.

I bought those to replace Bilstein 5100's that just felt too stiff while unloaded but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. The Bilstein 4700's are also another good choice.

Either way, it's much improved over the OEM AcDelco/GM junkers.

If you are trying to preserve the stock ride go with Bilsteins. I'm not 100% certain but I believe GM was still using Bilstein shocks in 2003 on the 1/2 ton Silverado/Sierras.

I just replaced the shocks on my 96 K1500 (Bilstein stocks) about a year ago and they had 220,000 miles on them before they began to fail.

If you need budget-friendly shocks, KYB or Monroe. For great performance on and off the road, you can't go wrong with BIlsteins.
