That's really nice! What was your 1/8 mile time? We run ours regularly at the short track nearby, but it's an older one. Always love to see trucks racing

Homestead Speedway. It's an 1/8 mile on the Nascar track straightaway. The left side grips better because it's concrete, the right side is asphalt. We have tons of timeslips and videos from just this year nice to see fellow full size Chevy truck drag racers

That's cool, didn't know they drag race there. Man, I haven't been down there in ages. We get together about once a year at Palm Beach International Raceway to run our trucks and fellowship. We're due, been waiting for one guy to quit blowing up his Denali. Last time out it was almost in the 10s. Some guys want to meet up at Orlando Speedway too. Yes, it's fun to run these rigs at the drags.

I used to race the in West Palm when it was called Moroso. I ran my GMC Syclone there (sold). Yes we have quite a few respectable trucks here at Homestead. Several in the low 6s and a few in the mid 5s. I've gotten used to 1/8 mile, it's all I know now

Yeah, it's taken me a while to write and say PBIR, I used to race at Hollywood too, remember that one? We were so nuts, we raced at both Hollywood and Jupiter every night of the week they were running back then!

1/8th mile I see as being good on not beating up the cars. Most all of the guys that race are over at the Tahoe Yukon forum and some at Performance Trucks forum too. I don't do it regularly anymore, just for fun. I'll get into it more in a few years when it comes time to overhaul the motor.

What do you run and what have you done? Mine is stock with a tune, puts down 307 RWHP but since her race weight is 6,400 pounds, she's in the 10.60s @ 67s in the 1/8th.

I was kicked out in '09 for running a half dozen mid 11s @ 124 with no rollcage in a Mazda Rx-7, good times

Fast forward to the 1/8 mile stuff, always lived in Homestead and a 3 hour drive is just too much, especially in a racecar.

When Countyline Dragway opened I was a huge supporter of it and learned about and got hooked on the short track.

My '06 2500HD Duramax was undefeated for 3 years until they closed the track, just mild bolt-ons and heavy tune running consistent 1.80 / 8.6 / 78

The Rx-7 also went 7.5 @ 96 there on low boost

CURRENTLY, I am putting all my efforts energies and resources into teaching my family (two teenage sons and my lady) the ways of legal and sanctioned 1/8 mile drag racing at Homestead. Races are held every two weeks with lots of people coming out.

Our truck is a humble budget work truck following in my ways of being very competitive. 2002 C1500 short bed regular cab Silverado, 5.3 flex fuel "Z" motor and 4L60

Mom races it and she is always behind the wheel at the track. I have an old Camaro if I get the itch. This is all about her and the kids.

Our best time just recently is 8.80 at 78.0 with a 1.9 sixty foot. Modifications are mild at this time, stock cam and heads, and 3.42 gears still. You could say it's running quite well for what it is. Bought it for $2800 a year ago as a salvage title crashed truck. If you had a chance to peep at the video I posted you can follow all the details and progression. That is our goal to have a positive outlet for the kids and gain a network of friends into similar builds

I'll say! Do you know a fella Wayne Cole with a Buick GN? He lives down that way or used to. We used to race a lot together 25+ years ago. Back in the day we had to have a cage too if we ran into the 11s or faster. So for our street cars we just slowed them down, turned down the boost, quit running slicks and race gas, etc. till they went 12.0s all night long. Don't remember Midnight Madness but do remember the Super Chevy Sundays. We also watched the Citrus Nationals and other big events. Sometimes we'd be camping/hunting in the woods nearby and could hear the jet cars make their runs and see them light up the night sky.

That's a great time for that truck and I can imagine she'll really pick it up once you get her to hook and start the engine mods. For drag racing I guess a true limited slip would work best no? On the latest video, why were the LTFTs so high? Was it still learning or was that because of the manual tuning?

Our children were introduced to drag racing only fairly recently. They like cars and racing and know how to turn wrenches but prefer more girly things right now. We've only been going once a year or so and that is likely part of it. I think that will all change once they make their first pass. My youngest prefers 4x4s and trails and mud.
