8 Speed Transmission Recall?

Anyone had their transmission replaced under GM Program# 2044120? Talked to dealer about this today and GM is not replacing parts but the whole transmission. I set up an appointment and asked if mine really needed it as it seems to not have any issues. Of course they said I should and would take a couple of days. Suppose to drop off Monday morning.

did you receive a recall notice or take the truck in for service under warranty?

This is nothing new, been policy since the 8-sp was introduced. Dealers are not to open them up for repairs.

I have a 2015 denali w. the 8 speed and it has already had a new torque converter. Now i still have the delayed engagement upon start up. They issued this #16-NA-014, which states they will install a new stator shaft?? This is the issue I have now. I wasn't' crazy about them opening my trans. Are you sure and saying they will not open it up just replace it???? Is there a TSB or something written.

They sure do... just had the stator tsb done and they took it all apart and put it back together again. I even have the work order to prove it lol.

The transmission is currently on exchange through the GM Product Quality Center (PQC). No transmission repairs, internal or external, are allowed at this time. If diagnosis has determined the need for any repair to the transmission, contact the PQC to discuss the information/diagnostics that led to the need to repair the transmission assembly before performing any repairs.

That's nice... also totally out of date and completely irrelevant.... research the stator tsb... yes dealers dismantle the transmission.. end of story.

I have to wonder with all the searching, jerking, hesitating and jerking again what the hell its doing to my drivetrain life cycle.

Program description: Certain 2016 model year Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles, equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, may have a condition in which the 2-3-4-6-8 Clutch Piston is out of specification. Parts exhibited a crack condition as cast after machining. As a result the vehicle could exhibit 1-2 up shift slipping ot a flaring condition.

 

Safety Risk Description: The Vehicle could exhibit 1-2 up shift slipping or a flaring condition.

 

Repair Description: Replace the transmission.

 

This is all I have information wise. Dealer confirmed I would get a entirely brand new transmission. I'll keep you all posted.

I still have the delayed engagement when I start my vehicle and put from park to drive.

      IMNTBHO;  the worst thing for the 6L80 is to be lugged down to low engine rpm while in high gear......AKA, to save fuel.   I rarely use D on my '16 with the 6L80 and use M mode to keep engine RPM above 1500 at the speed I'm driving, which is also benefiticial for the tranny because line pressure is kept up because the pump is actually turning a decent speed, and it's not always hunting to drop to the next gear to lower the engine RPM's.   Never above 30mph.............M3, maybe M4 if just driving thru a small NoDak town Never above 40mph............M4 Never above 50-55mph.............M5   This is way better for the tranny and the engine.........especially if AFM is still active.   262K miles on my OEM 6L80 as I type this.

      If they had nuclear material for "11 nukes" we'd have seized it.    Our military has been rendered either too weak/dumb to seize it, or they don't have it. Your pick,K-nut.       And you're obviously full of it too.  Apparently anything he does is perfect to you.  Don't you think this whole ordeal would have been better if he had maybe thought it all through first before bombing Iran at the request of his bffs in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar?  They are the ones that had the biggest issue with Iran.  Thus they have been pouring the platitudes and giving gifts/bribes to him.  Had he thought about the consequences of what would happen to the Strait before starting anything, we wouldn't have this issue.  Now he is stuck with no way out of this mess.  But you have your head stuck way deep in his rabbit hole to see anything else.  So no, I don't have TDS.  I see what he is.  The derangement is yours from no oxygen in the rabbit hole.

      Bringing of the fact that every President has said the same thing. They can’t have nukes. I guess you missed that before epic fury they said they had enough product for 11 nukes and weren’t giving it up. That not political or polarizing. The opposition of that is and giving aid to the enemy. The mandate is decades old through many administrations. The difference is TDS.
