Honestly, truth is for the money this will probably cost, plus the "mods" many buyers would throw @ it to make it their own/unique, you 100% could just buy an actual old Ford Bronco & go silly on it w/ a full resto-mod. They are dirt cheap still, I've seen ones with little or no rust list for $2500 - doesn't matter if it needs a new motor or the interior smells like dead cats you're simply going after the rolling chassis & body panels.

For under $40k you could have a legit ride, $10k paint/body work, $12-15k drivetrain (newest GM LS1/2 crate motor turnkey + auto or manual tranny), $3500 on wheels/tires, $5-7k on suspension/rear end, $1.5-2k stereo, $3-4k new interior, etc.

The demand would be low but it wouldn't be zero, I'd own one right now if it were an option.

To be honest I would be interested in a 2dr Tahoe/Yukon 4wd w/ 6.2 if they offered it. Removeable top means nothing to me at all though. Most people couldn't even remove the tops on the old Broncos or 1980's K10 GM Blazers. Those fiberglass tops were way heavy for a single person to remove them.

My dad owned a 1988 K10 Blazer with the Vortech 350 in it. I know exactly how many times ever the top came off of it, never. He replaced it with a 1996 GMC Yukon, it had over 500k miles on it when we sold it earlier this year and people were beating our door down to buy it from us.

Haha, I had an OJ bronco. Took the top off when I bought it, didn't go back on the truck until I sold the damn thing. That top should have come with an a-frame and chains to remove the top solo. What a giant pain that stupid thing was. Marvelous idea, but impossible without 3 friends that want to help.

You are wrong on many levels. The main reason why GM and Ford operate as GM Canada, etc is for tax, and admministrative puroposes. Name me 1 vehicle that either of the Big-3 build that is only sold in Canada and not the US? Name another vehicle that was built for the US hat was discontinued but still sold in Canada right now? I'll wait.

How about 15?

You are both partially right it is for tax reasons but market demands also drive what is sold regionally. But Never mind Canada check out Australia they have the most difference and 99% of 4x's there are diesel.

They also don't have a strict of emissions standards in Australia as they do here.

    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
    • To me it honestly makes zero difference what filter you run. It's not a race engine, just a truck engine that's mostly bumming highways and it just needs a filter that filters oil.   The filter used to be a 7060 and the long version was a 7045. Now it's the newer updated filter that the K2XX trucks and newer run, the 100255 I believe if we are using napa numbers. Any of those filters is going to do the job.   I wouldn't overthink it, to me it makes no difference because those first filter numbers worked for 18+ years before the spec suddenly changed.
