New shocks, loud thump

About 600 miles ago I had Bilstein 4600's installed on all corners, as well as BFG K02's (275/55/20). When going over a speed bump the front driver side makes a loud thumping that can be heard and felt. Is it possible that the shocks were installed wrong or is the heavier tire making the suspension work harder?

I know shortly after I installed my rancho quick lift shocks on my truck, I started to get a lot knocking noise when I hit pot holes. Discovered that one of the bolts for my rear shock loosened up. I would just go back and make sure everything is nice and tight, and see if the noise continues.

Ive had issues with my 4600s as well. Had my rack and pinion go bad immediately after instal. Replaced, then a thud noise. Have rack and pinion replaced a second time.

 

I am not too thrilled with the 4600s. They are too stiff for my taste. Hyper sensitive to road imperfections. They are probably great for towing though. I may replace them with 5100s on the front and leave them on the back.

Most of the time it's just a loose nut. Sometimes they are installed and not seated all the way and it seems tight. As soon and you start driving it falls into place. Happened to me when I did my own shocks once.

 

Check on top of the shock in the engine bay or take it back to the place you had shocks installed and let them find it.

It turns out that the company that installed them messed up on the front driver side. They failed to install the upper and lower insulators causing about $500 worth of damage. I called 4 Wheel Parts to give them the opportunity to make it right. They want me to bring the thing in and have them "look at it". With that said, I'm not sure I want them touching the truck again. Not to mention the huge inconvenience.

Have a brand new 2016 Silverado reg cab - I was planning on installing Bilstein 4600's to get a little more control. Seems like a little more complicated than just bolt in with some chance from messing up things. Would you recommend I have the local Chevy dealer install them - I'm sure the price will be high?

It all depends on how mechanically inclined you are. Rears are just a couple bolts you can do without even jacking it up. Front struts have to come off and use a spring compressor to remove old struts and put 4600's on. 3 bolts on top and a few on the bottom to remove the strut. You'll probably have to remove the sway bar end links and control arm for more clearance, but it's really not bad. Especially on a 2016 non rusted vehicle. Lol

Seems like a little more complicated than just bolt in with some chance from messing up things. Would you recommend I have the local Chevy dealer install them - I'm sure the price will be high?

When I swapped fronts and rears I pulled the coil assemblies out of the truck took them to the dealership they swapped them and I installed them back in the truck myself torqued everything to spec no issues
