Is my truck totaled?

Recommended Posts

Was driving home right after getting off work when a lady driving a maxima ran a red light and T-Boned me on my passenger side. My question for you guys with more experience/opinions is do you think it will be totaled or repaired? I ask because my truck has only 9k miles on it and i hate to have it repaired and its resale value affected as i usually keep my cars for no more then 2 or 3 years. Thanks in advance. I walked away from it all with just a bruised arm. post-165769-0-74378300-1480290101_thumb.jpgpost-165769-0-18148600-1480289994_thumb.jpg

Not an expert, but from the pictures above it looks like your frame and the bolts where the body rests on are ok, but they will have to be inspected. I got hit on that side in my 14 and they just fixed the doors, rails and repainted the right side.

However though I do hope you are ok, and it looks like that Nissan is going to be driving anywhere soon if at all again. I hope the person got cited for their piss poor driving.

Yah Nissan was definitely totaled, my truck was not drivable even tough i ran just fine tires got knocked out of rims from it swerving all over. Box is damaged tail gate wont open as is the center column on the side of impact neither door opened. I didn't get a chance to inspect the under carriage but the tow truck driver that picked her up said my drive shaft was also knocked out of place also. Def lucky to walk away, could of been much worse. Thank for the reply. post-165769-0-95213100-1480291737_thumb.jpg

If the drivetrain was effected, I would want them to check the measurements on everything within the engine as well. Sounds like you got some decent whiplash, all those bearings need to be checked in the axles and what not. Probably totaled.

Push for a total. A lot depends on salvage value of parts if they total it. I suspect the frame is over quite a bit and getting lines back will be hard. Looks like two doors, rocker, pillar, bed and frame time, rear end over too? Do the drivers side doors open? Probably. Not? plus paint and blend. Communicate to the insurance company that you want new GM parts as they will push for aftermarket or used. Good luck but I would not want that truck back after that hit. Point of reference I did collision work for many years.

It might not be. we do a lot of frame swaps for the body shop at the dealer I work at. Low miles and not being a work truck they might fix it. I would trade it in for sure after it's fixed though

Ty Dale yah both driver side door open just fine its just passenger side and tail gate that wont open anymore, adjuster is coming out on Tuesday to look at it and yes if they repair it i will push for only genuine gm part and depreciation money since ill be taking a bit hit on it when i do trade it in. Im hoping he will just total the thing as it will always be in back of my mind my truck will never be the same no matter how good of a job they do repairing it.

My 14 had what appears to be less damage and it was totaled. I was rear ended and needed a new bed (which back in October were on national backorder), frame, interior seat, and the drive train was bent. I would assume you need a new bed and a new cab/doors. I would also check your interior seat mounts, as they shifted.
