Hello friends, I am looking for some input and figured what better place to go than a forum filled with people who love these trucks as much as I do. Currently I drive a 2012 Tahoe, and I'm getting the itch to move to a truck. Unfortunately, I just can't figure out which direction to go. Every time I think I've made up my mind, I find a reason that another option is a better one.

Currently, I am torn between a Sierra Denali or an Alpine Edition Rocky Ridge Silverado that's at a dealer just around the corner from me. All trucks have the 5.3, and obviously the Rocky Ridge is already lifted with a 4 inch kit, 35s, etc. If I go with a Denali, I'll definitely level it, but probably won't go so far as to run 35s and a bigger kit as it will be a daily driver and generally a pavement queen.

The same dealer also just listed a used 2016 Denali with 14K miles for just over $44K. It seems to be a great deal, but with the ability to obtain the GM Employee discount, I just don't know if it would be a better long term play to wait for a great deal on a new one.

So, what would you do?

My buddy bought a rocky ridge Silverado and loves it. Ride is nice and full gm Warranty. All the rocky ridge trucks around us where LT's. So he had dealer find him a loaded LTZ then rocky ridge did there thing. But it all depends on if you park in a garage. I live in Ohio so I love having a garage to park in during winter. So to me it would come down to if it would fit In my garage, and truck with 35's won't. That's what made my decision.

whatever you do, don't buy a used one. terrible value/ equity ratio. I don't know who buys slightly used trucks when you compare to the price of a new one with the full warranty. you can afford 44 grand, but not a few more for brand new??

^^^ This...

Check out laurabuickgmc can get new Denali for $47k not sure if compares option wise.

The used one only came in to the equation because it happened to pop up at the same dealer as the Rocky Ridge. As of this second, I am leaning towards waiting for the right deal on a new Denali.

these trucks hold their value like crazy. I purchased my 15 LTZ Z71 6.2 last November for less than a 14 similar model with 20k miles was going for. my blue book value now a year old, is just a shade under what I paid last year when you factored in the incentives, black Friday sale and the 2016's hitting the lot

If you want a lifted truck, piece it together yourself. The Rocky ridge trucks are overpriced

Normally I would tend to agree. Somehow the dealer got the price of it down to basically MSRP of the LT2 Z71 that served as the base truck for the conversion.

however, you should be able to get at least 10k off the stock truck sticker. That still puts you at 10k cheaper

Good point Jimmy Boy. I would agree on purchasing a new vehicle rather then preowned. If you can get to Laura GMC they have blow your mind no BS pricing.

If you're trading in a vehicle then you are better off trying to sell it yourself.

i am not a fan of lifted trucks so would go for a new 6.2 Denali..........................oh yeah that is what I got LOL

Dump the Denali with the 5.3 and get an SLT with the 6.2 instead for the same price if you're on a strict budget.

And if it's going to mainly be a "pavement queen" as you stated, why consider a lifted one with big off road tires that'll just cut into your MPG's and make it more difficult for you as it limits going into parking garages, etc. Short of doing some serious off road, a level kit and 33" All Terrain tires is really all you'd ever need.
