Rust on 2014 Silverado?

Does anyone know if the insides of our frames are dipped in wax, too? I was thinking about doing an internal rust coating (the Eastwood one, probably), but I'm not sure if this would cause issues if there is wax inside the frame.

The inside is also wax coated. The Eastwood spray for boxed frames won't do any good unless you borescoped the inside and checked the condition of the wax.

On the inside of our frames we will have to see how the wax holds up. I would think it should hold up well considering no direct contact to elements or wheel splash. But then again it depends on how well it is holding its adhesion to frame .

Is it necessary to wire brush/scrape at rust spots before spraying over them? I don't have much rust yet, but I want to stay informed and on top of it.

its not necessary to do jack sh*t to the rust spots unless you're OCD in that case you should've had it treated immediately upon purchase....what CAN happen is moisture getting trapped under the spray coat & causing worse rust.

But yes - if you're going to paint it you should remove surface rust - don't go crazy just get the surface stuff off.

After reading this post I went out to check my frame and all I can say is WOW... I had a 98 Silverado that I also treated the frame with just paint and primer that held up decent. I purchased this truck a 2014 a month ago without even thinking of looking below. No biggie I will get after it in the spring and treat it as I did my other truck.

Can you guys post a pic of the spray oil you use I would like to try that rather than paint if it works better.

Well I didn't mean to offend you.

I'm just baffled over how we got such different results.

My wax hasn't "shriveled" or peeled off like you are so adamant will happen. I've applied FF over a dozen times now. Maybe your pro's were using the thinner version because it's easier to spray. Mine is the stuff on the right.

Even though they specifically say 'not to be used as undercoating'? How did you apply it?
