OK no offense but since you work for  GM I will disregard anything you say.

Do you realize what a dumb comment this is?

Now there's some well grounded logic. Wonder what makes people say things like this?

justin i dont have the rough idle problem but when it switches to v4 mode the truck vibrates really bad , i dont have any codes or vibrations except v4 mode would these new mounts fix this problem. it is a 2014 5.3 ccsb 4x4

Sorry I’m late, I would say yes. But you need to verify the E1 vibrations with a picoscope. If you want to just sort of shotgun it, try the mounts. I would say about 80% of vibrations on these trucks and SUV’s with the vibration at idle in drive is the mounts grounded internally.

Mine was verified with the picoscope and exact issue described in the TSB. Still does it like nothing has changed. Any suggestions. Don’t know how it fixed it for 80%of trucks but mines the exception.

I appreciate you offering advice on things. As I'm sure some other forum members do.

Agreed. In situations like this, I usually look at the number of posts (just like when I look at people who post a review on Yelp).

So lets count them up:

jtjohnston = 7

Justin101714 = 700

Doesn’t hurt my feelings one bit man. You’ll just continue to have broken shit. I’ve contributed in favor to a lot of forum members on their problems with their trucks and SUV’s. Is everyone going to agree, no.....but that’s okay. We’ll just keep things moving and you’ll get left behind. Do everyone a favor though, go trade your truck in and get something else from a different manufacturer so we don’t have to see your pissing and moaning. Trust me, the loss would be beneficial to GM. They’ll just sell it to someone else who’ll like the truck and organization behind the truck.

Justin is the real deal.

He has contributed lots of honest answers based on experience to these forums when he didn't have to.  He has also helped tons of us through PM's.  If you don't want to listen to him then don't.  I for one will continue to follow his posts.

Thanks for all the help Justin ...

Rough idle in drive or all the time? Do you have a copy of your invoice that shows the technician notes. I’d love to see them.

Drive, after the engine is warm. Idle sets at about 500-490ish and shakes. Sometimes coming to a stop it vibrates so bad snd the idle drops to about 300 for about 2 second and feels like it will did. Exactly like the TSB. Cold starts when idle is at 6-700 it’s smooth as silk.

here is the copy of the work order listing the parts they used. It did not correct anything.

I have alsi tried CRC intake cleaner as others have suggested. Nothing.

I’m going to assume you have no other issues present, no check engine light, no tuning done, etc....

Also, what’s your particular engine, trans setup? When it’s rough idling, does it have a random stumble during that time or is it rhythmic?

Correct. No other issues. Just this. I have a kn CAI and CORSA exhaust but the rough idle was there before I installed those. No tune

Not sure what you mean by stumble unless your referring to the inter it’s the shake during rough idle. My kids call it the butt massage and wife says it feels like to going to stall.

5.3 with 6 speed. The ones everyone seems to complain about. I had a 2014 4.3 with 6 speed prior and never had this rough idle

So it’s there whether it’s in drive or not and it does it all the time or only when the engine is cold or warm?

I’m thinking your mounts are actually contacting the frame on the most inward bolts. I’d try to have the mount shimmer on the inside 2 bolts closest to the engine. A couple washers should do. Try this an give us an update. I’ve only had to shim a select few.

I just picked up my 2018 slt 6.2. See signature for details. Had a rough idle since I left dealer. Runs excellent otherwise. Currently have 1800 miles and 40 hrs on engine. Ran a few tanks of premium. Still get the chug that shakes seat at idle.

Give more time for brake-in? Time to contact dealer? Is it better to print TSB if so what’s the number of just show and tell?

Also been reading about a bad head casting? My truck was built 12/7/17. Hopefully missed that but just checked all fluids and all are normal but coolant overfilled.

    • I get the same results with pictures. Then I figure it out. Then I forget. Screw it.
    • I guess I'm the only one on this forum who can't get effing pics to load here! Do you have to resize them to post, or am I just blocked from uploads?   I have the same luck with automotive electronics ... but this is the ONLY site on the net that I have this problem!   I'd post pics of what I'm working on ... but I CAN'T! 🤬       Just fabbed up the kickdown cable (had to extend the cable mount WAAAY out from the throttle shaft to get a full pull), and parts arrived for the fuel lines on the 940 carb conversion project. Should be able to drive this thing by the end of the day. If not for work, I'd have had this thing done SIX weeks ago.   Got the jetting sorted out last week. Had a real bad tip-in bog that I couldn't seem to correct. Friggin float height was over 11mm too HIGH! eBay purchase, so no wonder everything is screwed up right out of the box! I ended up with a larger dual-squirt accelerator pump jet anyway instead of the single. Also moved the 70 primary idle jet (4 sizes too big out of the box) to the secondary idle circuit, and installed a 57 in the primary. Runs great on the fuel bottle!    Still using the computer for ignition. Going to drive it first and see if I want to go through the project of installing an intermediate shaft with a distributor drive gear, so I can install a block-mounted distributor and run points, 100% computer free. I should do that anyway just from a simplicity / reliability / tunability standpoint. The electronics left me stranded last year a couple times! I can't tweak the timing to my liking right now because of the computer. Tried twisting the cam-driven distributor already ... and the damned thing just reverts back to where it was! That's infuriating. But if it runs well enough I might save that for next season.   Just driving it in and out of the shop to work on other projects, it feels 1,000% more responsive with the carburetor. Also fires MUCH faster when cranking. Can't wait to drive it and see if I got more than 114 ponies, lolol.
    • Triumph makes me think of cars not bikes. Especially with model names like the TR7, that was a Triumph car model too. Peak TR for me was the TR250. You could retain the post-war roadster looks, with an optional surrey hard top, but with an inline 6 engine instead of the TR4's anemic 4-cylinder, but still have a 4 speed, optional overdrive.   I know almost nothing about Triumph bikes, except that they exist. Good looking bikes though.   I don't know if I could just have one vehicle. The Silverado does it all except for fitting anywhere. But it leaves a void in real driving enjoyment, unless driving an extremely large sofa is your thing.   What did I do to my 'other' (muslce car - which one!?) vehicle lately. I took my '23 SS for a drive. It's only got 1600 miles. I keep reminding myself I shouldn't be so precious about this car. It likes to be driven. Needs to be driven. Life is short and if I don't enjoy it, someone else will. The other half calls it "the garage ornament".
    • Hey everyone, Thought we’d share our 40" SLIM Light Bar setup for the 2022+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for anyone looking at behind-the-grille lighting options.   The 40" bar sits behind the lower factory grille, so it stays pretty well hidden when it’s off. The mounting position is also adjustable, which helps with getting the bar positioned properly depending on the grille.   A few details on the setup:   40" SLIM LED light bar Fits 2022–2026 Silverado 1500 Spot + flood beam pattern White, amber, or white with amber DRL backglow Adjustable mounting position No cutting or drilling required Doesn't interfere with the active grille shutters Vehicle-specific mounting brackets       It’s a straightforward option for anyone who wants the coverage of a 40" bar but prefers to keep the front of the truck relatively stock-looking. Curious what the Silverado owners here prefer — hidden behind-the-grille lighting or an exposed bumper-mounted setup?
    • Yes. Absolutely. That doesn't mean I don't like and enjoy a variety of machines. I went for a time with no other vehicle than a 1976 Triumph TR7-V Tiger. Loved that bike and rode it 365 in any and all weather. I did not feel deprived of anything.
