Best tonneau cover for 1500 Denali?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be leasing a 2017 Denali and it doesn't come with a tonneau cover. The dealership is willing to give me GM hard tri fold for dealer pricing which is $743. That would add about $21 a month to the lease.

Just looking for people's opinions on tonneau covers. I'd prefer a tri fold. I don't mind buying one online from somewhere else if it is cheaper than $743 because at the end of the lease I could always sell it to get something back.

Thanks

I bought a Tonno Pro tri fold and like it a lot, it seems pretty heavy duty and should last a long time. I think the warranty is 10yr for vinyl and lifetime for frame.

Are you looking for a hard or soft cover, lockable or not? Is keeping water out a concern? Do you prefer a rollup/power-fold/tri-fold? Depending on your answer to those, you can be way below that price or right at it, to on well above. I assume the lease is for 36 months since that will be paid off @21/month in 36? Are you able to keep the cover since you'd be paying extra for it?

Several threads on here on bedcovers. I went with a bed cover that I could get color matched so I got a Peragon. It is a rather unique design. Certainly not waterproof if that is a big concern you may want to look at some others.

I had a Xtang trifold signature canvas cover on for a while (came off a 2009 Sierra then my 2014 Sierra) while I was bed cover shopping. Sold it for 100 bucks so if cost is a big issue you can probably find a nice trifold cover dirt cheap used...

That color match tonneau is cool! Do you have a link?

I've ran Truxedo lo-pro covets for years. It's a soft top roll up with a fantastic warranty.

I have an undercover flex hard tri folding tonneau. Licked it up for under 700 and installed myseld in a matter of about 30 minutes.

Where did you purchase for under $700

It was on jet.com for just over 700. I called autoanything and spoke to a guy about price matching and he came back and said he could one up it and said ill sell it to you for the lowest we are authorized to do so. I ended up buying my full rear floor mat from him at the same time because i got such a good deal on the cover. Spent less for both items than i was expecting to pay for just the cover. So far it has held up great. Been on for about a year. I used a uv protectant every few months to keep it looking good. Very happy with the product, its functionality, its looks and what not. I have had the painted fiberglass ones on my past trucks and wanted to have more function with the bed so went this route. Could not be more pleased.

I was just on their website and they have a 20% promo code and it looks like you may be able to get it for like 640 using the promo code MELT. Not sure how long the code is good for.

Yeah just went on autoanything and used the melt promo about 10 mins before you sent your reply. Got it for $638. Awesome deal and I can't wait to get it installed on my '15 Sierra Denali

Glad you got a good deal. I emailed the manufacturer about protecting it and they advised me to use 303 protectant to prevent fading and such. Just fyi. It will have drain hoses that they instruct you to drill holes in the bed. I fabs up my own drain and drilled holes in the plastic covers at the top of the front of the bed and works great.

Check this link out. I have 2 pictures on the page

Looks good. I think I will use the exact same approach for the drain tubes. What size did you have to drill the hole in the cap?

    • Looking for advice from this group. Took my flawless 2020 6.2 TB to an unnamed shop for routine rear brakes and oil change. Tech forgot to put oil back in after the full service and needles to say, destroyed my engine.  It’s all on their shop video so they are responsible.   I had my Chevy dealer do the analysis and they confirmed its compromised and said engine replacement. The manager said they only get GM reman engines from GM with full 3 yr warranty and the one they would put in is not same as what’s they are swapping out on 21-25 for recall.    I am looking for advice why that would be a different engine because obviously I had the good 6.2 year and replacing it has my concerns with that recall for 21-15   Also what’s the pros and cons of accepting the engine swap vs telling the shop that bricked the truck to pay up so I buy a new truck. I’m concerned about stigma resale eventually if I just decide to get rid of it after the swap or other issues showing up after the swap out.
    • Just looked up my records.  I've never gone over 5000 miles between oil changes.  At 46K miles, I have 10 oil changes.  I hope that will help.  I also installed the disabler last year.  I've still had a few times when it didn't seem to engage (which I can tell because the start stop feature kicks in), but for the most part, I think it's working.  For some reason, GM did not include the number of cylinders running in the information screen like I had on other models.  In my Cadillac, it shows me when it's running on 4 cylinders on the fuel milage screen.  I can't find that on my '21 Denali.
    • you might read through the info on gmupfitter.com for your truck, to find a good power source.
    • Melling I believe is/was the OEM on the lifters who explored this problem some years ago. The white paper they generated on the topic indicated two items of note when I read it. 1.) They only fail on the switch. Prevent the switch, prevent the failure. 2.) The majority fail due to deposits messing up the timing of that switch. Anyway that's what I got from it.    Mine have always been active, 195K+ now, and my oil maintenance is surgically clean.    Of course this assumes good parts. That is no heat treat issue or machining flaws. I get comfortable that these issues are in the rearview mirror by about 30K. IMHO naturally.
    • Yes, the key seems to be with the half tons that if it has the Z71, then it definitely has the two speed. What got me was that the two speed AND the lower geared towing package option could not be chosen together the last few years unless it was mated up to the 6.2. Want the 3.0 duramax and 3.73 tow gears ... nope, can't get the two speed transfer case ( neighbor son realized that after he had bought his used 3.0 half ton .. where the frick is the low range ? ! ).    I am still unsure which truck series, the half ton or the HD truck that the original poster is referring to for sure other than yes his question is in the HD section of this forum but that doesn't guarantee the question got asked in the right section.
