How to make it ride like a Raptor

He got me all jazzed up for Kings that's for sure! Makes me think going the Bilstein 6112 route might not be the best for the money over the long haul. Not to mention they look so much cooler!

Give him an email and he'll get back, seems like a really nice and well informed guy.

Oh and I'd ask him his thoughts on the mid-travel kits...when he emailed me back he said there's really just two good options for our trucks, OEM Kings or the long travel kits. I'd like to know why but will ask when I have more funds for the upgrade.

Already contacted them. About $6k with king 3.0s. about $1k less with 2.5s...Not including wheels and tires. I'll beef up the underside after.

Their mid travel prerunner kit is sick. I think I'm pretty much sold.

If you go mid-travel or long travel you also need to factor in custom length CV axles if 4wd.

The Mazulla mid travel kit is getting you 11" travel, 14" if 2wd.

Travel numbers should be taken at face value, yeah cool more travel but it comes to shock tuning. An aftermarket setup will be better than any production truck, Raptor or not. Combined with a secondary bypass shock you are light years above ANY factory setup Raptor.

All of these custom set ups take a serious amount of time and money. What type of terrain are you trying to tackle?

AND with a suspension capable of more, leads to more inherent issues such as beefing the frame up, solid mounting alignment cams so you don't knock it out of alignment with ever hit....bump stops....gussets...never ending battle. I had $37k into my Tacoma with a LT set up...and wasnt even close to being done.

The axles are included. I'm not trying to race my truck. I just want it to ride like a stock raptor. I don't want something super modified. I'm not going to jump it. I'm not going to rock crawl with it. It's a 55k truck that rides like a caddy on road... I just want maximum comfort over desert and mountain trails as well.

Then you DO NOT need a mid travel set up. A common misconception is "long travel rides better" sure...if you need the extra suspension travel. Literally the same coil overs just longer for more usable travel.

My recommendation is aftermarket uniball upper control arms and King 3.0s with clickers valved to your intended terrain/usage. Anything more than that will go to waste, sure will look cool though. You are also adding more wearable items with the mid travel set-up which require more constant maintenance.

Thanks for the info. The mid travel isn't that expensive. I'd rather go overkill the first time then regret it and go back and do it over again.

About ~3k more in parts. Should also factor in another $1k for a spare set of CV axles since you won't be able to get them at a parts store if you have a failure out on the road.

And fiberglass fenders if you plan on running 33" or larger tires.

Gotcha. That's less than a months mortgage around here.
