Turn the volume down or switch to aux input assuming you have nothing plugged in

That's probably the quickest/easiest solution, to remember turning it down to 0 on volume before exiting the truck.

There may or may not be a way to move fuses around or reprogram it, but I haven't seen/heard/read anything about it.

Can't you set the startup volume in your truck? I know mine you can. I set mine to the minimum allowed so it doesn't blow my ear drums out when I turn the key lol

yeah I keep it turned down looks like there should be a way to not turn on at startup

If you turn it off on shutdown it doesn't come on on startup. Hell if I mute mine on shutdown it's still muted when I start it again.

This. Just go to Settings -- Radio -- Startup Volume and set it as low as it will go. Then when you start the truck your screen will come on (including NAV, phone, etc) but your radio volume will be turned down.

If you have the "Pause" feature (which you should on a 2014) then you can even pause the radio before you turn the truck off and when you restart it the radio will resume where you paused it (I think max 25 minutes pause).

Just got a 2014 Silverado 1500. Love it, except that part about the radio always coming on at startup! It is muted, but I would rather see the clock face display when I start up, not the radio display. Is there anyone who knows how to do this?

the radio is like a computer, It has to boot up every time you start the vehicle. The early ones didn't and they would lock up when turned on. GM then came out with an update that makes them turn on at every startup to prevent lockup. If you turn the vehicle off with the radio powered down it should be on mute when you restart the vehicle.
