Anyone else have a 14 5.3 that constantly whines? Almost sounds like an alternator going bad or something but ive used a rubber tube trying to hear what the sound is coming from and there is no one place. You can hear it pretty well in the video and the motor was up to temp when it was recorded. the phone is sitting on the plastic radiator cover with the hood open.

I've noticed this same noise since mine was new. Notice it more before the engine warms up. Dealer service says it's normal, although the tech was unable to say just what it was.

They all sound like that I don't know if mine has gone away or I just don't hear it anymore but it was very noticeable when I first got the truck

10 4 I figured that would be the general consensus is it was normal truck seems to run very good so didnt think it was to big a problem. Guess ill have to put a blower on it and maybe that whine will drown out this whine!!

Same noise here and my dealer claims it to be the fuel pump. Still it sounds like a 1986 Ford Taurus with a bad steering pump, annoying as hell imo.

Have you checked the PST fluid while it's running to see if it's foamy? Might be sucking air.

I guess mine has a little whine. I don't have any issues and the engine runs strong so I am not to worried about it. Just turned over 70,000 miles yesterday.

(Normal) yes the DI engines make some unfamiliar noises. Once they get the electric propulsion perfected we will have no noise and we will really miss the Real motor noises. Make sure and save that video so the grandkids know what a real truck sounds like.

You should hear the GM 3.6 they whine way louder then the 5.3.

The DI engine in my truck makes less noises then my 2013 then the DI 3.6 the Traverse had.

To me it sounds like the new oil pump they are using. But as long as everyone else does it I'm ok I reckon. Now back to figuring out how to get rid of this vacuum pump.

My 2014 makes this same whine noise. I bought the truck used and did not really notice the whine until i began driving it regularly. It is constant at low speeds cold or hot. I initially thought it might be the transmission but after this video it seems like it could be the engine. I feared it was a bad alternator or steering pump etc... Engine is running strong. I am about to change the oil so we'll see if that makes a difference. Anyone find out where the noise is actually coming from?
