Great info - have a similar question related to the GMT 800 series.

We recently purchased an '02 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE extended cab as a tow vehicle for a 23' travel trailer - I'd like to retrofit RPO DPF power extend/retract mirrors, but can't seem to find any info as to whether this was an option in 2002.  Do you know if this retrofit is doable, and if so, what's involved other than acquiring the mirrors and appropriate switch?

I'm not concerned with having the mirror heat function work, but would like to have the other functions.

Can’t believe I missed this post! Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback! Truck looks awesome!

Team,
If you haven’t already gathered from reading this very long running and detailed forum; Phil Gamboa is the way to go to make sure that you have exactly what you need for a tow mirror install, upgrade or modification.
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra SLE 2500HD. I bought my truck used and the previous owner added on the basic OEM tow mirrors with turn signals in the glass, heated function and the basic power glass function, nothing more. My truck did not have the factory harness with the necessary pinouts to make the signals in the glass work. Normally I wouldn’t care about having the glass turn signal function but since it was there and didn’t work it drove me crazy. After doing a ton of research I knew exactly what the problem was; I didn’t have the right wiring. I contacted Phil through the forum and he called me back right away. We had a discussion about what I had, what I wanted and what I needed; the guy knows what he is doing. I ended up buying the AM-2558332961 from AM Autoparts. These mirrors have the full works; turn signals & light bars side marker, LED spotlight, puddle lights and power fold. I did not have the power fold function so I bought the switch from GM parts direct for around 40 bucks; EVERYTHING works now. It’s a pretty cool upgrade. I ended up selling my old mirrors for $200 buck so the overall cost for the mirrors ended up being about $300. Also, these mirrors are the same exact mirrors sold by A1 Auto for far less; The exact same.
Phil made/modified the harness to make everything work based off of our discussion; it was absolutely plug and play. Also, I did buy and install the RZY harness; you can find plenty of material and videos on this. The bottom line is this: Can you buy factory harnesses from Ebay, the GM factory or any other site, Yes. Will they probably work, maybe? If you want your mirrors to work exactly how you want them to, then contact Phil. You’re going to pay about the same about if not less for a product that’s made with detail, care and pride; you’re also supporting an independent hobbyist (I don’t know if I can say a business). The best part about working with Phil is that you can call or text him with any questions, issues (I did a lot) and he responds almost immediately; you can’t get that anywhere else.
I hope this sums up many questions, ideas or notions about mirror installs, upgrades or modifications.

Phil, is there a way to make the mirrors fold and unfold when you lock and unlock the truck?

If it’s on in your settings you have to do it via the key fob, hit the lock button once and then again but hold it. And same thing when unlocking. Have had my truck almost 5 years and barely figured this out earlier this year lol

If your truck came with Seat Memory, then yes, these should be settings in your radio. If you’d truck did not, then you won’t have that option.

Key fob fold is a Seat Memory dependent feature.

Well that’s a bummer. No seat memory. I bet someone knows how to correct that though......

Would he be a candidate for the aftermarket fold/unfold with fob controller?

So paul, I ended up picking up a 2018 black LT all star edition crew cab 5.3 which has the heated window etc, it does not have power fold or memory, but I would like to put in power fold  switch and use the puddle light.  What switch would I need and also what wire kit would I need?

Looking to purchase in a day or so the tow mirrors with power fold

So 1A Auto mirrors with the puddle lamps come with either black textured cals or chrome caps.

I can also provide the part #s from AM Auto mirror. They sell the same mirrors for a little less.

Harnesses for this upgrade are $310 shipped anywhere in the US. I refund $100 when
You send me your factory harnesses.

Hi Phil,

I currently have an 2014 LT 5.3L. I would like to upgrade to the chrome towing mirrors. When I look for them online It keeps bringing me to this mirrors Part number  23372181. When I go through the check if it fits my vehicle it tells me it does not fit. So a few questions: will this part fit my truck? if it does and i purchase your plug and play harness will i have functionally of the new mirrors?  Thanks for keeping this thread alive, I enjoy the information.
