Looking for opinions as well.

I have 43k on my 2014 5.3 and its already had two chemical cleans done by the dealer due to engine rattle/ping under load. The first one was done at 29k and didn't do anything for the noise. The second one was done about 100 miles ago and it seems to completely eliminated the noise. After searching the internet it looks like a lot of people are recommending the 'Italian tune up' to prevent the carbon build up.

I think it works, idle and running is smoother. I did it on the pa turn pike in m3 at 75mph around 37-4k rpm for idk 15 miles.

I never even heard of the Italian Tune Up until now. Interesting.

It works, try it its free. Audi and vw recommend it.

Fuel injective modern vehicles not so much blowing the carbon out needed. More common in the carb, point days.

Getting the valves/injectors/pistions hotter than one usually would helps to bake off the carbon. Audi did a whole wright up about this. A quick Google search of the Italian tune up on direct injection will give you all the bathroom reading material you could ever need

And all this time I thought an Italian Tune Up was just a good ass kicking.

So, politically incorrect tune up? HA HA HA. You could really go to the next level, any one who drives a p/u for pleasure instead of work should be ashamed. Hybrids for everyone. ???

Just run Top Tier gas and avoid the politically incorrect tune-ups..........

Which will help keep your injectors, pistons, cylinder walls, and exhaust values clean but will do nothing for intake valves.

Direct injection engines don't have fuel running over your intake valves. So the best fuels with the best detergents do nothing.
