Leveling Kit - Which size?

I recently picked up a 2014 Sierra AT with about 100k on it. This thing is in desperate need of a leveling kit!

 

Quick question for you guys, though. I know that there are many different sizes of leveling kits available.

 

I've perused the pictures forum and noticed that some trucks seem to have a bit of a negative(?) rake (where the front is higher) when they use a 2 or 2.5" leveling kit.

 

I just went out and measured my fenders. The front is at 36" off the ground and the rear is at 39.5". That's a 3.5" delta! Before measuring, I had originally bought a 1.5" kit because I thought it would make for a more even ride. But with a 3.5" difference, do you think I need to go bigger?

 

I guess part two of this question, do you think the front sag is due to age/wear? Or maybe the back is high because of tow package. Should I be looking at potentially replacing springs and/or shocks as well?

 

I know there are a lot of threads on leveling kits already, but I wasn't able to find any quite like mine.

I think you will be fine with a 2.5"

I even had to add a 2" block in place of o.e.m. 1.25" cuz it gave the appearance of a squat with just the 2.5" spacer up front.

I think you bought the right size at 1.5". This way you'll have some rake and no need for larger blocks in the rear. These trucks appear high in the front when they are actually level. imo! The smaller spacers will also be easier on the other suspension components.

I just did a 1.5 level. on my 2017 Yes Rear 2" higher when you measure at whelwells but at rocker whete GM MEASURES RIDE HT its level. You decide on the look you want

Your ride height seems to be about on par for what most report. 36-36.5" front, 39.5-40" rear with stock 31.6" tires. My '15 with 32" tire and 1" front end lift measures out at 37.5" front / 40" rear, truck just hit 45K.

I think alot depends on what size tire you want to fit or your preference of look/rake.
The negative rakes are from 2" kits that lift the front and dont lift the rear. The 2.5" comes with a 2" block to replace 1" rear blocks and maintain about 3/4" positive rake while still raising the truck.

I have a brand new in box 2.5" Rough Country level kit for 07-17 sierras with stamped steel arms. If your interested send me a pm.

Thanks guys. I have 33" tires on the truck now (275/60/20), and plan to keep these tires for a while - they're brand new. Do you think there will be too much fender gap if I go with a 2.5" kit?

 

Thanks for the pics pdosescu. What size tires are you running? I think a black truck has a lot more room for acceptable fender gap/black space than a white one does.

Got the 1.5" kit installed, she looks SO much better!

 

HOWEVER. The front left is sitting at 37.5.. but front right is sitting at almost 38.5? That seems like a heck of a difference. The re-alignment numbers looked clean. Any idea what might cause this?

 

The back left sits just under half an inch lower than the back right. Suspension wear? Frame damage? What do y'all think? All four tires are showing 35psi on the TPMS.

I was about to say don't go any higher then 2". Any more after that usually causes more stress on the suspension.
