Windshield wipers

Tried to put an aftermarket stereo on my truck and used the windshield wiper fuse as power, had everything grounded as needed but now the wipers are very slow. Even at the highest setting it is still too slow. Any ideas to what could have happened?

Sorry, the glass was just to dry and creating frisction poured water on it and they work fine, now do you guys think its a problem to use the fuse as a power source? I read about people using it.

Did you hook main power to it? Or the key 12v power? I hooked the 12v key power to a bare prong in the bcm that has power when turn key on

I bought a wiring harness adapter that just plugged into the stock GM radio plug, and provided a fused 10 amp power supply for my Pioneer radio. And it also supports RAP.

Bare prong as in a spot that no fuse? All i did was wrap the wire around the prong of the fuse and pushed it back in, i dont like that set up but i needed the radio working that same day so i did, and yes it only comes on when the key is turned.

Why not use the original radio fuse location[/

Now that you mention it i dont know. I read in a couple of spots that people did this and that dident even cross my mind.

Think about this. It's raining, wipers are on and you crank the stereo, blows the fuse, no wipers. :happysad:

Yea bare prong no fuse. It's a keyed 12v there's a fuse in the fuse block not in the bcm. The bcm is on driver floor board next to the brake pedal.

The factory radio doesn't turn on with a switched 12v wire. So you have to add a wire. The bcm was the closest and easiest spot for me.
