Just an Observation.......

To tall, go 1/2 ton. If you're complaining about high truck entry and bed height, you're in the wrong truck. You bought it, then complain like it's the factory fault you didn't shop well. Seems typical now a days.

Nothing is perfect.

Went from a 93 Silverado standard cab, 8 ft. box, 2 wheel to my 2012 Sierra, Ext. cab, 6'6" box, 4 wheel drive. My first 4 wheel because that's the market here in Colorado.

Hard to find a newer standard cab, 8 ft. box. Miss the 8 ft box.

The 12 is taller, the computers in it can be detrimental to a DIY guy. The 93 was simple/easy to work on.

Overall pleased with the newer truck. Night and day difference. There are some things I don't like.

Actually worked out well having the 4 wheel drive as we moved to the mountains and the road to our place requires 4 wheel drive. Used the 4 wheel drive recently due to rain, mud.

I'm old school, don't need On Star, don't have a smart phone,(cell phone gets little use) use a desk top. So maybe I'm easier to please.

If I was to complain about something it would be the cost of my 2102.

Dyier2. Love that old iron. Nice.

Thanks

There are times I miss the old 93. The 8 ft bed would be number 1, the heater number 2. It also required a regular tune up. Don't miss that.

Look at the size difference!

The '17+ super duties are even taller! My '16 hd is perfect for me. Im 6' with long limbs so climbing in the cab/bed is no problem. Niether is reaching in the box.

My only issue is how much longer and less maneuverable it is compared to my 2 door wrangler lol

I had a 2000 2500 (no HD that MY) & got rid of it after 4 years. That's the shortest time that I've owned a truck. Yes the OEMs seem to have a height race in addition to the HP & TQ wars. I remember reading an article in the Toronto Star where 1 of their automotive writers compared her 1st truck an '81 Dodge to the current Dodge. As far as she was concerned, trucks were getting higher w/ no apparent benefits.

There are options/features on trucks that some of us will never use. In colder climates a rear window defogger might be usable. I know we searched for a '16 before I ordered my '17. If I had bought it (same model & colour I wanted) I probably would've complained. It had carpeting, little mirrors & the defogger. The defogger would've been useless as I was planning on getting a slider installed.

Because there's a difference between the 16 and 17?

No becauuse if I had bought the '16 I would've complained about the content.

My family (includes my father & brother) has purchased 14 trucks & other than my brother's '16 we've always ordered them so we get what we want.

    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
