I have a 2009 GMC Sierra 2wd, I recently deleted the speed govner on it, at speeds over 100mph I hear/feel a loud vibrating/humm,,,, possibly drivline? idk , should I get it checked, is it dangerous to go over 100mph with that sound?

Put the limiter back on before you send your driveshaft up through your box. I'd suggest a Camaro or Corvette if you want to go fast.

Benn more than one story posted here where the driveshaft has let go at high speed

Hard to believe that the drive shaft would be that speed sensitive. Usually there's some safety measures built in like you hit 130 watch out. Tires the same thing. Especially since lots of highways south and west speeds limits are 75 mph and above. Technology gone backwards.

Safety measures? You mean like a speed governor?

I guess you miss the point, so I'll spell it out. Say your out west where the speed limit is 80MPH, most people run 5-10 over. I guess you'd feel comfortable being within 10 mph of the speed limiter and possible explosion. How about the difference between all the final drive ratios and speed cut off. They all cut off pretty much at the same speed.

Coworker just fragged the driveshaft in his Duramax 3500SRW. Knew he picked up a stone that put a small dent in the driveshaft. Was driving back and forth on some dirt roads at low speed, shifted into reverse at the turnaround, and bang; the driveshaft twisted like a pretzel (keeping in mind he never touched the throttle), twisted off and slammed the DPF. The repairs right now are pushing $5k for a new driveshaft and DPF. He told me he couldn't believe how thin the wall of the tubing was.

Point being, it doesn't take speed to frag one...

The pictures of the failed drive shafts look like a roll of Great Value aluminum foil complete with the cardboard tube that has been twisted in half. A quick google search of silverado drive shaft failure will leave you scratching your head and asking what was GM thinking? These engines have more HP and torque than ever before, and they went to an aluminum drive shaft that should be in a a 1973 Chevy Luv.

I had the rear U-joint come apart n a '99 with 506 miles on it. Lot's of damage. The driveshaft was bent, side torn out of transfer case, spring shackle busted, shaft hole in rear diff elongated were some the highpoints. Dealer mechanic said the u-joint was not properly assembled.
