A/C Auto or On all the time?

yeah we never turn em off on any car, maybe in the deep of winter for a few weeks lol

 

all our cars have been worn out before the ac

 

really in Florida I don't even see the need for the auto I don't think we've ever used it on any car

first thing you do here is get in and crank the fan up full which turns the auto off. By the time fall rolls around

it's still hot and you just adjust the fan down, I never touch the #'s

Mine has been on auto since I got the truck almost 2 years ago. Adjust the temp as needed. Usually stays at 73 year round.

 

 

Do you guys never drive with the windows down? Guess you don't turn the A/C off then either,,,,,,,,

Yeah not really, I've had the windows down and you still turn it on, that always seem's silly so I roll them back up. Same reason convertibles and sun roofs don't make sense to me here.

 

If you see a convertible top down in Florida in the summer for sure they have the ac on! I guarantee it.

 

I mean you *can* here jan to march depending on weather that year (Christmas Day is usually high 80's), especially in the mornings but we're talking in the mornings 30f and afternoon in the 80's so you turn it on those days anyways..and in the summer forget it first thing you do when getting in the car is fan on high. For a few weeks it's cool all the time and you'll turn it off and...

 

this part is exciting...

 

there's a 2 or 3 days out of the year I will be able to reach down and turn that seat heater on for a few minutes! it's always exciting when that day comes, you've been staring at the seat heater button for 364 days going man when can I flip that unused button!

 

It's like the house heat, for a few weeks you flip it on and it has a distinct smell while it burns off 11 months of dust from the coils or maybe it's just because you haven't turned it on for 11 months and it feels different.

 

 

But I bet 10-11 months out of year ac is on all the time. Really impressive when you think about it, there's a ton of ac shops so they must go bad, but only times I've had troubles we're talking the car is really on the tail end of things...or a hose or a manufacturer defect. Wifes van is hitting 9 years and 160k miles and I bet that thing has been off a total off only a few weeks out of each year total. Even in the 80's you have it on with low fan.

Freedom from constantly changing the HVAC settings...... * PRICELESS *

 

Been that way for 3 days now - not for the control freaks that can't stand that A/C light on all the time - and not knowing what vent is working since those lights don't light up on auto............

 

I guess it's like your home thermostat - you are not constantly changing it...........

 

Now what will I worry about - V4 mode I guess........... Or whether or not A/C is hurting MPG......... LOL.......

Liking it so far when A/C is needed. Auto not a winner this morning at 0:Dark:30 and 53 degrees out and windshield defrost needed from morning dew. Was impressed however when I hit the Max defrost button when I already had fan cranked - it really cranks the defrost blower............

      I can relate. 3 years ago I did that on my Avalanche. I was sore for a week. The only maintenance I do myself now is drop and fill on the transmission on my Honda’s. It’s just too easy. My yard work with my walks in the morning will be enough now I passed 70. The contributing factor is the heat in Texas. You just have to pace yourself.

      I am sorry if this was misleading. That was a document attached to our most recent work order number (Doc# 7105804) that summarized all the current updates. These programs were ‘redone’ in the past but these versions dated 4/1/2016 were the ones that actually made all of the problems disappear. These programs were relayed to the dealer from the technical services group at GM. Here is the exact wording on the last work order:   “Front view camera reprogramming with SPS. A new version of FCM software was released to the service dept. In addition to providing general robustness and stability enhancements, this update includes all enhancements from previous software version releases. SPS camera and calibrate camera. OLH to perform extended camera relearn procedure after camera calibration. Would not take with first GDS learn. Front camera SPS – BDYZ333157450 GDS2 – camera road calibration performed 2810835 Front view camera reprogramming with SPS LT 0.6 OLH – extended camera relearn procedure OLH LT 1.5”   I got the truck back on 4/8 – since that time it has been great no problems whatsoever. The lane keep assist, active cruise control and AEB all work very well around town and at highway speeds up to 80mph. During this time I had been away for a week and purposely let the battery sit without a batter tender. Even with the battery a bit lower there were no problems exhibited. I really think this one has it fixed after dealing with these issues over a couple of years. These new programs and relearn process when completed seem to make all the parts (and newer replacement parts) ‘talk’ to each other without any glitches. Hope this helps

      I turned 72 today. My day began with a trip to the pharmacy to pickup meds for me and the dog and then a stop at my chiropractor before heading home. Once home I started the job of replacing the rear brake pads and one rotor on our 2018 Silverado which will probably end up taking me 3 days to finish, gotta pace myself you know. Sometimes I question myself on why I still do most of my own repairs but if I wasn't then it's more than likely I would be sitting in front of the TV all day. It seems like the list of things I need to do gets longer no matter what I accomplish. I'm not complaining but being retired was so much easier when I was 62.   Peace

      google "bathub failure curve". Basically, any part of the vehicle can fail at any time.  It starts off as being more likely (early failure), then the failure rate goes down (but does not go to zero), then it goes up over time because it wears/ages out.

      I went from every other day to about once in five since the rain abated. I'm not unhappy about that. Took most of the month for the ditches to dry enough to mow.
