Stock internal power

How much power can the stock internals take before you need to start worrying about breaking stuff? And fuel system? Thinking about putting a single turbo on my truck.

If you are just talking engine internals I would go check around the camaro and vette forums and see, they are much more prone to testing those limits and have a similar bottom end (especially the 6.2 which has a car engine). I would guess 500-600 rwhp but they will have a better idea. I wouldn't eclipse 600 rwhp if it is a regular driver.

Around 600 the wheels on stock short block

 

Fuel system needs lt4 stuff

 

550 would be my target for the sake of breaking crap and cost, which is 220whp more than a 6.2

I'm not sure if you ate familiar with a 2015 rc owned by Allan partin. But if I'm not mistaken at one point he had stock internals running 18ish psi mid 700s at the wheels and the truck was fine

That's more than the 6.2 is comfortable with and I believe the 5.3 lacks the forged rods and crank

The ring gap is the biggest problem with the short block

He was fine for a long time. I don't know all the details but the motor was always fine the only thing was he popped a driveshaft

I know who you're talking about, just dont think it was that high of hp. I know it was impressive though

Keep in mind that magazine that threw a bunch of boost at a stock 4.8 and made like 1200whp, all they did was gap the rings

Mine has been 600+ at the wheels for months, as well as many others on this forum alone. Stock fuel system is limited to around 550whp, but as others mentioned the longlblock doesn't seem to have any issues whatsoever at up to 700whp so far. That's the 5.3l motor, I can't really speak for the 6.2.
