I forgot about the rotary shift knob.. yeah, that was a tough one but ego aside I guess you'd get used to it. Couldn't help but think that it belongs in a Prius, not a truck though. Not a fan of the console mounted shifter in the Fords either, it's a waste of console room.

Not knocking your truck bro, they all have theirr pluses and minuses. Ram makes a really nice package and I could have overlooked it's minor deficiencies if I weren't too tall for it. No truck is perfect, GM certainly isn't, it just fits me great. Different strokes for different folks.

Ford was immediately ruled out because I cannot wrap my head around spending $50k on a new truck with a ****ing V6 in it, I don't care if it has 10 turbos. I like their trucks but the 5.0 is weak as their only choice of V8.

That's true, and it's funny becasue I really like the Dodge/GM V6 entry level engines alot, better than the Ford packages. I would love for a gas straight 6 to become an option again.

I will say the RAM Laramie I test drove had one hell of a nine speaker Alpine audio system. Rotary shifter didn't bother me much. I also liked how when you folded up the back seats, you could fold out a raised flat platform. Perfect for my dog. The running boards extended back to bed in to just in front of the rear wheel well which was nice. It did shake on the test drive which is primarily why I walked. If it hadn't been for that, I'd probably be driving a Laramie today.

Best of luck with your RAM. They make a really nice truck, I'd probably buy one if payload wasn't an issue. The Hemi is a strong motor and they seem to know how to tune a transmission.

Definitely ride smoother. My uncles Longhorn is much smoother than my 16 Denali. They have coil springs in the rear. Less payload like mentioned. Also can get better deals on the Rams. It is dated now.

GM, Ford and RAM have their own drawing cards. The one feature of RAM that could eventually win me over is they are the only one of the three that offer a manual on one of their full size trucks. The big draw for me in a Sierra/Silverado is the looks and the big, non-turbo 6 cyl. If they allowed the manual transmission offered in GM trucks outside of US and Canada, there would be a new GM in my driveway!

The RAM is an older platform, and the safety ratings are not up there with the new F150 or GM. I know a lot of guys in my business that have RAMS. Even an Eco-diesel with 70k. They ride awesome, the 5.7 is a beast. When people say the payload is low, by how much? I compared a CC/SB 5.7L 4wd against my truck and IIRC it was about 200 Lbs lower than mine. not really a HUGE amount lower like everyone rags on. The rebel and specialty builds have much lower payloads, but the Long horn or Laramie vs my truck.... within 200lbs. one thing that has driven me nuts about the RAMs is the on the passenger side foot well, it's cramped. Why is the footwell area upfront so small?? It's like a 80's conversion van on the front pass side. And the 5.7L has 16 spark plugs and burns 89 octane with no direct injection. Not very business budget friendly. That's what kicked me over to the GM after test driving a Laramie. But I can see why people like them, nice riding truck with a lot of power and a good trans and big 20" rims. It's a great driving truck.

Going back to that RAM coil rear suspension.. I don't know about you, but the rear stabilizer bar on them hangs down and looks ugly, and is the diameter of a pencil. Also, there are a lot more moving parts. I realize that a few guys have noises from the infinitely simpler GM leafs, but for a truck, they work, and have for generations.
