One thing I miss from my 99!

The A/C unit! That would freeze you out, in short order too. Only had this 2015 Z71 2LT DCSB for 1500 miles or so, only has like 12,600 on it. Today was the first really warm icky day we've had since I've had it........not nearly as cold as my 99 Ext Cab. But after some reading on here, I guess it's just part of the new setup with this trucks. Just have to keep the two vents blowing right at me I guess. Still happy with my truck overall!

I've read that the reason is that the system has the auto function, so acts more like a thermostat in your house. I loved it in my '14 because it didn't seem to take too long to get warm or cool and it didn't need to blow the air full blast. So less hitting you and a lot less noise. But, if you actually look at the temp when the air is the coldest coming out of the vent it's only about roughly 5° warmer than the coldest temp out of a non auto AC or older AC system. To me that's not enough of a difference to complain about or even feel. But, I do live in northeastern NC where it does get hot and humid, but only gets close to 100° for maybe a week or 2 out of the summer. I also always drive with the windows down when it's warm enough and not raining. I only used AC when it was raining so I guess I'm used to the warmer air hitting me. That's the way I am since my first vehicle/truck of my own was an '86 C10 that didn't even have factory AC so I got used to preferring windows down over AC.

My 99 was ice cold too! My new sierra is comfortable

and I'm probably the wrong guy to ask how the new ones work...........because I prefer it ice cold. To me, anything above 80-82 in SW Michigan is too warm.

Not to say I wasn't comfortable today in the truck, but I had to have both vents left and right of the drivers seat pointing at me. I had auto started it to to start cooling down and took the long way home. I would of eventually had to turn it down.

Oh it's gonna be miserable! Got an extra fan on my desk to try and help cause the AC in this old grain elevator sucks in this office!

On longer drives with my family, the AC/fan at some point ends up on the lowest setting because we get chilly, in my experience anyway.

My 93 was colder for sure.

The 134 freon does not work as well

If it runs long enough I turn it down.

Turn the temperature down to 60.

Agreed. I LOVED the AC in my 99. I liked it in my 2007, and my 2017 is okay. I feel like I'm running it about as hard as it can and it is barely enough.

My 99 would keep ice cream cold. It was a RC, so that probably did help alot.

I never truly liked the computerized HVAC controls in my 2007 and the 2017 is similar in that regard.

Turn the thermostat down further, say down to 60 degrees. It will then get you cool quicker.

She is down as far as it can go...........something they need to work on by 2033. 2033 being the next time I upgrade, if I follow my previous truck longevity.

Granted, it's still better than having the windows open when it's hot an humid.

82*F? Haha!!! Try Florida. Our winters are in the 80's. Summers are miserable in the upper 90's with high humidity and it feels like 110. Halloween in FL is usually miserably hot.
