Silly Question - Center console

Recommended Posts

So I have a 2017 Sierra SLT. Is the center console material leather or vinyl? Any why does my dash look like leather? lol Common sense is telling me it vinyl and manufacturers aren't going to put leather on the dash, at least not on a vehicle like this but the center console.......J

Just want to ensure I use the correct product on it .

If Im not mistaken I think the rear seats are vinyl as well. But you cant really tell the difference

It's leather guys. "modern" leather. Far cheaper and less luxury than in years past. But still leather. "milk cow" (i.e. old) leather if you wish, but leather still. You want better? Go Caddy. Yeah, they have upscale leather. Look it up....

Me, I stil have no problem with materals of old. Why? Simply because they stood the test of time. I appreciate high "quality", except when it fades.....

It’s leather industry scraps ground Into powder and pressed into a sheet the same way you’d make a sheet of paper.

Indeed. The "leather" is as close to being a natural animal hide as a piece of paper is to being a tree.

"Leather" has become a very broad term for describing upholstery. I find the care and durability of the current leather products similar to the standard vinyl seats found in trucks of the past. I wipe them down the same way and use no special treatment. My 1990 Sedan DeVille required a far different level of care!

Highly recommend Chemical Guys leather dry-to-touch serum on the seats and leather wrapped steering wheel.

All other panels/dash etc. use Aerospace 303 protectant.
