Remote Start & Heated/Cooled Seats

Been trying to figure this one out for about a year.  I have the vehicle settings set to have the seats heated or cooled when I remote start my truck.  I have yet to get into my truck, after remote starting it, and find the winter chill nor the summer heat removed from them.  Am I missing something or are they not working correctly?

They work as selected, normally, but seem to inoperative with remote start.

Mine heats when remote started below a certain temperature. Not sure what temperature it is though, and it feels like it is on the lowest setting. What bothers me is the little heated seat lights don't illuminate during the auto start auto seat heat scenario. Seems obvious to have the heated seat lights come on so you know it's on.

I've never noticed the auto cool though.

They do in my wife's 13' durango. Seems simple.

This has been brought up in the past. I believe the problem is that the heating elements are buried in the seat padding. when you open your door and touch the surface of the seat, it still feels cold. But the padding is warm on the inside. Once your rear end compresses the padding, it should feel warm within 30 seconds. If you are not feeling warm after sitting on it for a minute, then you may have a problem. Just remember that the heating elements are not at the direct surface of the seat, so the surface is not going to feel hot after remote starting.

Straight from the manual, think this answers your question.

Remote Start Auto Heated and

Ventilated Seats

During a remote start, the heated or

ventilated seats can be turned on

automatically. When it is cold

outside, the heated seats turn on,

and when it is hot outside the

ventilated seats turn on. The heated

or ventilated seats are canceled

when the ignition is turned on. Press

the heated or ventilated seat button

to use the heated or ventilated seats

after the vehicle is started.

The heated or ventilated seat

indicator lights do not turn on during

a remote start.

The temperature performance of an

unoccupied seat may be reduced.

This is normal.

The heated or ventilated seats will

not turn on during a remote start

unless they are enabled in the

vehicle personalization menu. See

Remote Vehicle Start 0 38 and

Vehicle Personalization 0 165

The service rep, today, was saying something along that line.

I just got a denali and the ventilated seat option worked much better before.  I noticed last night when highway driving that they were basically the temp of my rear end and I was hot even though it was going on the high setting.  when I took delivery not even a week ago, the cooling was much more effective.  I guess I have to take it in.

2017 has "ventilated" seats not "cooled" seats so there will be a noticeable change.

Ventilation has a cooling effect.  The feature does not perform as well as it did just a week ago when I took delivery.  That answer is unacceptable.

OK so I just had a new development.  ** effective seat ventilation requires cool air in the floor of the cabin area.**

you have to have your zone setting to floor only or chest and floor to get really good cooling effects.

for example , if it is hot out and you have the zone control on top only, your ventilating seats will have little to no impact unless the entire cabin is very cold.  but in very hot climates (florida), it is hard to achieve that.

I'm 99% sure this is not mentioned anywhere in the manual.  I'll go out on a limb and say this isnt in the manual.
