New here, 5.3 question ?

Of coarse it depends on the day and not that it really matters, but the car and driver reviews I saw has the 5.3 with 3.42 going 0-60 in 6.7, 1/4 mile at 15.2 at92 mph.

The 3.08 0-60 at 7.3 and the 1/4 mile @ 15.7 at 91 mph.

The 5.3 isn’t bad but the 6.2 really is a beast even in a heavy truck.

6.2 with 3.42 and 8 spd trans is really fast! :)

The FLT is a mile above sea level. It hurts the 6.2 more then it hurts a turbo vehicle. I do not believe the 6.2 is available with a 3.08 but I could be wrong on that.

Don’t pay attention to the FLT numbers unless you are of coarse a mile above sea level.

Edit for*

Damn I didn’t see all the reply’s between my post and the TFLT post. While I like the show you 100% have to keep in mind it’s 1 mile above sea level and know how that effects things.

Most 6.2 have 3.08, unless NHT, then you get 3.42.

I did not realize how close the 6.2 and the 5.3 avg. gas mileage was , That is my only regret when I first started looking at the 1500, I would have opted for the 6.2 ,Actually seems to be no reason to get the 5.3 ! If gas mileage was the only reason ,

in my mind I  was thinking 6.2 = $$$ ,  but after buying and then looking at the numbers I kick myself in the butt

Still love the way my truck drives

Ahh for some reason I thought they had 3.23 with the 8 speed and 3.42 with the 6 speed.

those are the most aggressive diff ratios available that are non max tow

with max tow its 3.73 for 6speed and 3.42 with 8 speed

Something else to think about is that most of the best performance numbers posted online are with the earlier 6speed and these new higher trim trucks all have the 8 speed which slows them down about 2 tenths and 2mph across the board. With that in mind a Regular cab 5.3 2WD with the 6speed should not be too far off pace from a newer Crew cab 6.2 4WD with the 8speed but of course those types of comparisons never get made.Pretty sure the new light body Ecoboost F150s also edge out the 6.2 with the 8speed

Yup, Same here!  Oh, well I don't tow and don't have any reason to go fast so I went with 5.3L  super satisfied......
