Thing is throttle tip in on these things is crazy leisurely. When I first got it it really felt like a dog. It goes decent enough when you are into it though. It just took me a while to get used this the throttle. I came from a vehicle where you just looked at the throttle and you were going. Also now when I get in the wife escape the first few accelerations I am gunning it because I am used to the Silverado pedal.

This is what a tune fixes....from a 1st gear launch perspective, tuning my 6.2 made it feel like I swapped out a v6 for a big block v8

That's why I want to get trucks "actual" gross weight, since my Vehicle Build Sheet shows (Gross 3,087) for model "CK15703-2016 Silverado 1500 4WD Reg-Cab...

Thats a fine looking truck ! Mine is also a bare bones RCSB Blackout Edition WT with the Convenience package and 7" MyLink being the only real options.Snagged her $8500 off sticker a month ago 2017 with 0miles on the clock. Its one real good looking errand vehicle

I think the first thing we need to remember is that we're driving a truck not a sports car. That being said I remember when my dad brought home his '89 Silverado with the 5.7 and that thing was an animal. You could barely keep the tires from spinning.

Today the trucks are heavier, have torque management and are A LOT smoother. Even a modern sports car doesn't FEEL that fast anymore (relatively speaking) because the power delivery is so smooth and the suspension has improved so much.

I've driven modern Ferrari's, Porches etc and I don't get that "thrown back" feeling unless I'm on my motorcycle. Even my neighbors 69 Camaro "FELT" faster when I'm sure it wasn't - just more harsh I guess.

My 5.3 does feel a lot more responsive with the Diablo tune. Still not a race car though...

This is so true.Today the limits of some vehicles you can pick right off of the showroom floor are so high they have to be tamed because the average consumer will end up wrapped around a pole trying to reach them.My other vehicle is a V series Cadillac which I have driven on track before and what has been with those cars is nothing short of amazing.Alot of the same technology has trickled down into GM trucks and they are honestly not far behind which is why your average price for one is so high these days

If you're searching for that feeling you can get it in a Tesla... Those things have crazy torque and traction.

Here is some food for thought courtesy of instrumented tests conducted by Car and Driver Magazine in case anyone whos switched engines cares to know how accurate there seat of pants feel is

Chevy Silverado 4x4 Z71 Crew Cab for all tests

6.2L gas 5.4sec to 60mph 14.1sec 1/4 mile @ 99mph

5.3L  gas 7.2sec to 60mph 15.4sec 1/4 mile @ 90mph

4.3L  gas 7.7sec to 60mph 16.0sec 1/4 mile @ 87mph

4.3L  e85 7.3sec to 60mph 15.7sec 1/4 mile @ 89mph

By the numbers the 6.2 makes the other two engines look like toys

Of coarse it depends on the day and not that it really matters, but the car and driver reviews I saw has the 5.3 with 3.42 going 0-60 in 6.7, 1/4 mile at 15.2 at92 mph.

The 3.08 0-60 at 7.3 and the 1/4 mile @ 15.7 at 91 mph.

The 5.3 isn’t bad but the 6.2 really is a beast even in a heavy truck.

So many variables... But to your point, none of these trucks are slow... The 5.3 0-60 is about the same as a base BMW 3 series 7 years ago so...

TFL  (The fast lane truck ) on You tube raced the 6.2 against the ford raptor  and it only did 7.4 sec and the raptor did it in 6.1 sec I thought the 6.2 would do better , now i am thinking it must of had the 3.08 gears ,  it supposed to be fastest stock non turbo gas truck you can buy !

They are at high elevation

hate that they test acceleration at that elevation, who gives a shit how fast it is up there and who gives a shit about comparing NA to turbo

also not sure what test you’re looking at, but 6.2 has always been much quicker than the 6.2 raptor in every test I’ve ever seen including tfl truck

He is probably talking about the latest video which is the 6.2 against the new turbo Raptor at high elevation.Turbo vehicles do not suffer from the same amount of power loss at high elevation testing because they will always make a fixed boost pressure no matter what giving them a significant advantage. They have another video of the same Raptor getting its doors blown off by your basic run of the mill F150 Ecoboost because it is alot lighter. The Car and Driver numbers are usually never the fastest online but testing every engine option in the same trim truck using the same equipment helps keep variables as close as possible

the 5.3L seems slow because it's so quiet and smooth but there is plenty of power.  When I got into 1/2 tons after driving 3/4's all day they always felt like SOFT BUICKS and fast as lightning....Now, I am more interested in is the tailgate still attached?  What is that noise?  I have none of these problems with 45K on my 5.3.

I know everybody was hesitant on the ecotecs but they are without a doubt a cut above the other MFG's engines......

The FLT is a mile above sea level. It hurts the 6.2 more then it hurts a turbo vehicle. I do not believe the 6.2 is available with a 3.08 but I could be wrong on that.

Don’t pay attention to the FLT numbers unless you are of coarse a mile above sea level.

Edit for*

Damn I didn’t see all the reply’s between my post and the TFLT post. While I like the show you 100% have to keep in mind it’s 1 mile above sea level and know how that effects things.
