My buddy paid like $55k for his Platinum Tundra Crew Cab 2 wheel drive. It's definitely huge inside. That's about all that I like about it. I guess I like the idea of the Toyota name to some extent.

My dad has a 2013 Ram Bighorn with the 400hp 5.7 hemi, makes my 6.0l 2500 look very slow.

He doesn't put a lot of miles on, probably has less than 20k right now, but hasn't had any issues short a recall.

Changes oil, filters, and tires...

I don't think I could ever get used to that knob gear selector though...

I was a Dodge guy through and through, owned a lot of them and a lot of Cummins powered ones. I didn't go back because they haven't upgraded the front suspension in the 2500s much and that sadly is their weak point. I would have changed ball joints and all the steering components twice in my 2004 Dodge by 130k (and it was all greaseable), the steering in this 2012 2500hd is just as tight as day one. That solid front axle is cool, but it's not...

Can't say I'm shocked ... :shakehead:

Thanks for the update. Hope they resolve this one!

They don't want to compensate me for incentives.. They don't want to compensate me for the leveling kit I put on it that I can't take off - I don't have the old hardware... I may have enough of it to put it back together and limp b ack in to the dealership. The rep from the BBB says that the arbiter would likely agree with that. Cash repurchase would give me back $30,350 after subtracting for mileage when I first had it serviced.

My truck MSPR was 37k and I paid 32500 after the rebates, including $1000 trade allowance on top of that. The same truck is now selling for 28 advertised price, which would end up being about 30k. So they want to replace msrp for msrp... which msrp is pretty much always an irrelevant price. I don't know that there is anything I can do about that.

They will always try to extort every nickel and dime out of you. That's the MO of 21st Century automakers.

At this stage, it might be a good idea to cut your losses, and use that money to buy a new Ram.

I have talked to two lawyers. One of the big named Atlanta ones who is actually responding to me now. Alex Simanovksy in my free evaluation said I don't have a lemon case but did have a breach of warranty case. He finally responded to an email that I sent him yesterday where I said GM agreed to replace/repurchase but wasn't going to pay me for my leveling kit and stuff. He said he doubted he could get me much more than the replacement.

Another lawyer friend who hasn't done much with lemon agreed that I was probably in the best situation.

I read up a little more in to the details of the law and it almost looks like I have to PAY the $3300 in usage in order for them to replace it. I will definitely not do that. You're right though. I can  get a better equipped Ram for $30,300 than this thing... but I did confirm that if I get it replaced and the new one starts squeaking I can lemon that one too.

My neighbor went through that same situation with his Ecoboost. Got a lawyer, then FoMoCo decided they would play ball, after an entire year of dragging their feet, and several bandaids & misdiagnosis of the engine falling flat on it's face during passing. Even Detroit's own engineers couldn't fix the problem! Anyway, long story short he ended up $2,200 poorer, but got another identical 0 mile F-150, this time with the V8, and dumped that Ecoboost back on Ford. So far so good with that, aside from windows that leaked.

Still waiting. Apparently GM didn't communicate anything to the dealership about my post POS purchased fender well liners. I was under the expectation from the BBB that GM was covering replacing them on the new truck, since they were dealer installed factory accessories. GM called me twice last week. I missed the first one and the second one I asked her to call me back in 30 minutes. She said she would and now it's been 4 days. I guess it's what I've come to expect from GM.

I think I've said it some here, but I'll reiterate. I've been a GM guy my whole life. A NEW Silverado has been a dream. I finally got a brand new Silverado... This experience with GM has made me not even like the way my Silverado looks any more. Now we'll see what happens with these fender well liners. I bought this dream Silverado with full expectation that I'd keep it until the wheels feel off. I get it with leveling kit and tires that I have no receipts for, but this is dealer installed GM accessories. I bought them with full expectation I'd be keeping the truck. It never crossed my mind that I'd be lemoning it. I guess the moral of the story is don't touch ANYTHING.

So depending on how they finish this... I may trade the brand new 2018 for a Dodge.... or I may keep it, this time with hope that it will have the same issue as the 2017 and I'll stick it back to GM again for repeatedly crushing my dreams. I've been a committed fan... It feels like GM breaking commitment after commitment... even calling me back in 30 minutes is just making me ill over these fools.

Exact same story with me, brother!

I busted my ass to the bone working thankless jobs for YEARS, to finally get to a point in my life where I could buy a new truck. I finally did it in 2007, and it was the BIGGEST disappointment of my entire life. So many things I could've done with $30,000!! ( these days that's $55,000 !!!!! ) NEVER again.

11 years later, the thing is still a constant burden. So far the past 7 months, I've driven 2k miles, and the o2 and EVAP monitors have yet to run. Nobody pays me to work on my own crap! Wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't live in communist Massachusetts, but they test for emissions here. It isn't enough that you spent a year's salary on a vehicle, and the state collects their taxes on it ... but then you are saddled with the burden of keeping it "running clean" per OBD-II - paying for mandatory annual inspections, more $$$ for repairs, more tax on the parts and labor ... or else you pay the "hidden tax" in the form of a citation, and 6 YEARS of insurance surcharges.  If you or I tried to run an enterprise like this, we'd be tossed in prison .. yet automakers and communist governments get away with it daily.

I just hope GM reads these posts. The money they may have saved cutting corners just lost them 20x that in sales. Because of my brother's, my father's, and my own issues with GM products, we've probably talked a combined 100 people (if not more) out of buying GM, or any new vehicle depending on their mechanical abilities and motivation. All one has to do is listen to the stories of Toyota owners who got an ENTIRE FRAME replaced for FREE, with NO HASSLE - and 90% of these vehicles were LONG out of warranty!! Granted, they shouldn't have cheaped out on a frame ... but that's another story for another day! At least they made things right in the end. Same can't be said for GM, that's for sure. I hear the same exact stories all over the internet, in town, and across just MY state alone!

Hope it was worth it, General! I WILL NOT be back ... and neither will thousands of others, by the time they realize what you're selling them. :seeya:

  Carry on ....
